Wyoming Senate hopeful Liz Cheney said bluntly on Friday that she is not pro-gay marriage. Cheney, who is mounting a Republican primary challenge to Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), made the remark in a statement, which is posted on her website. Her sister, Mary Cheney, is openly gay.
The statement cited reports that Cheney was the subject of a push poll in which people were asked, Are you aware that Liz Cheney supports abortion and aggressively promotes gay marriage? I call on Senator Enzi to denounce this poll and to tell the National Republican Senatorial Committee, or anyone else promoting untruths on his behalf, to stop, she said. A spokesman for Enzi took exception to that statement.
Neither Mike Enzis campaign, nor anyone affiliated with his campaign, has conducted any polls in Wyoming, spokesman Coy Knobel said in an email. He would never support a push-poll, or tolerate anyone working for him who conducted one. For Liz Cheney to assert otherwise, without any proof whatsoever, shows more about her campaign than Mike Enzis. The NRSC is also not polling in Wyoming, a spokesman said. With all due respect, it looks like Liz Cheney is fishing without a license again, NRSC spokesman Brad Dayspring said.

(23,782 posts)She clearly states that she IS "pro-life," but then states that she IS NOT for marriage equality. If she were more serious, she would have affirmed that she is IS for "traditional marriage," or some such tripe. What she's really saying is that she's not comfortable discussing the issue. Oh, and she can fuck off.

(15,413 posts)Before Jon Stewart took over (and maybe even after he did), A. Whitney Brown was a "correspondent," and he had a wonderful schtick where he would ask someone why they did something; they would deny doing it, and he would reply with, "I understand that, but why did you do it?" I remember especially his interviewing a woman who claimed her little Chihuahuas (who she had painted blue) were aliens.
Why did you paint your dogs blue?
Well, I didn't. That's how they naturally are.
Look, I understand that, but why did you paint them blue?
*confused look*
Reporters should do this people like Liz.
Can you tell us why you're pro gay marriage?
Well, the thing is I'm not pro gay marriage...
Look, we get that, but why are you so pro gay marriage?
Over and over again until they get pissed.
