It sounds like they are talking themselves into doing this.
If they really don't want to but feel pressured to save face, throw a few missiles at a command and control site and call it a success.
"Not IF but WHEN" is the quote that CNN is saying they are hearing and I fully expect to wake up either tomorrow through Monday morning to find out they've started it.
Would they launch when they thought fewer Americans were watching? Hit early on a 3-day weekend and hope that we're all sleeping in and don't notice it because we'll be barbecuing or watching college football. (Don't you dare fucking launch Saturday night around 8PM, my game's on)
Everyone on tv has resigned themselves that we are about to dive in and that it's Imminent.
I weep for the people we are about to kill in the name of Punishment or Peace.

(23,598 posts)What if there's another purported chemical attack? Then launch a few more missiles? Once a single missile is sent by Obama, he owns the entire situation. The only way to secure all weapons and "protect civilians" would be to send in tens of thousands of US troops.

(23,598 posts)There is ZERO political damage to not intervening. The smartest of the Republicans have already said they're against intervention. Only the lunatics like McCain and compromised ones like Graham are calling for war war war.

(12,606 posts)and they are out on recess...how convenient, then the GOPiggies will blame the Obama Administration for reckless adventurism etc. and not consulting them first.
