Its a lot tougher and longer.
46 was my score

(38,613 posts)I'm extra miffed because there were a couple of questions where I knew the right answer, but breezed through too fast to fully read them

(40,416 posts)I changed my answer about the tool-making era from correct to wrong.
I miscalculated the acceleration. Too much in a hurry and didn't double check. My bad, I have a BS in physics!!!
I agree. A tougher test than the Pew test posted earlier.

(68,644 posts)If 68 is the average reader's score.
In my line of work my score should have been higher.
Argh.

(8,830 posts)but many were guesses that I got lucky with because I studied Greek. Did horribly on the maths, not surprisingly.
That was much harder!

(23,730 posts)botched the measurement one by one decimal point, and the Greek letters
had to get through it like Tracy Jordan on Cash Cab: ethanol looks like a horsie and I met one of Gell-Mann's identically-named adopted sons

(18,101 posts)Screw that.

(3,416 posts)I should have done better. I have a BS in Geology with a minor in Chemistry. I got careless on a couple of them.
X_Digger
(18,585 posts)I guessed on a few by process of elimination, though.

(22,541 posts)iffy answers. Hell, calculating acceleration? Haven't done that since high school physics. And good lord, if they had asked anything difficult from the periodic table I would have been lost. Luckily, you can't forget oxygen, right, and the ones around it either. Same with anything to do with hydrogen.
I just thank goodness that my physics teacher was really into textbook stuff and drilled that into us. One of my sisters got stuck with a guy that did nothing but work on a car engine the whole time.
OK who got the fucking PEA POD right? I thought it was fruit flies.
Egalitarian Thug
(12,448 posts)tripped me up most often. More than a couple of the answers I got right came through process of elimination and a lucky guess.
DevonRex
(22,541 posts)got the pea pod???? My hat is off to you. And yeah, I had to go through elimination for some, too. I got lucky because so many questions relied on language skills. And because i had the same teacher in high school for physics and chemistry. He was really hard but made you want to do well. Those were my favorite classes. He even made me love math again.
I had a hell of a time with the planet stuff. Wound up with lucky guesses and then got lucky on 2 questions that had been in the news recently about Hubble and water on Titan. You're a good egg ET even though we do fight sometimes.

(12,448 posts)my misguided belief that I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up.
OK, it was actually Mr. Singleton teaching us about Mendel, but it stuck.
Thanks for the kind reply.

(22,541 posts)eat nails than admit defeat so we worked on that thing longer than we ever did for anything else. Except maybe finding a painting on Friday.

(19,288 posts)And I had to take my best guess on a lot of them. I'm a great guesser. I love science
Didn't get this right trying to copy the screen.
I tried to save it. But that doesn't look like that will be it.

(19,288 posts)Where did that come from? I only missed two on the religion test, too. One I misread and one I flat didn't know.

(52 posts)Several of those I would classify as history or trivia more than I would classify as science. Still, I'm disappointed in myself for forgetting some of them.
