Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who did not receive a copy of the 2012 audit (showing thousands of violations) until The Post asked her staff about it, said in a statement late Thursday that the committee can and should do more to independently verify that NSAs operations are appropriate, and its reports of compliance incidents are accurate.

Shortly after the initial leaks in June, Feinstein told CBS News that I have seen no abuse by these agencies, nor has any claim ever been made in any way, shape, or form, that this was abused. Feinsteins House counterpart, Republican intelligence committee chair Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan, told CBS News in July that theres zero privacy violations on this in its entire length of the program.

(57,936 posts)There are lots of jobs people can do very well at 80. Being the chair of the Senate Committee on Intelligence is not one of them. The technology is very complex. It takes not just technological experience and knowledge to think one step ahead of the computer nerds at the NSA.
Feinstein is just not up to the task.
Feinstein was not savvy and on-her-toes enough to recognize that her campaign funds manager was embezzling large amounts of money from her. She certainly is not competent to be the head of the Senate Committee on Intelligence.
SACRAMENTO (AP) Democratic U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Tuesday there was never any indication that her former campaign treasurer was mismanaging her re-election account before the treasurers arrest last year in a widespread embezzlement case.
It was a big betrayal, Feinstein told reporters after addressing Sacramento area government officials. Oh yeah, you can imagine how youd feel.
Feinstein made her first public remarks on the topic after her former campaign treasurer, Kinde Durkee, entered guilty pleas March 30 to five counts of mail fraud in a case that prosecutors said involved looting at least $7 million from about 50 clients.
It is believed to be the largest embezzlement case involving political campaign funds in the nations history.
