McConnell: "Where are the jobs?"

Yesterday, after Obama's speech, Senator McConnell asks
"Where are the jobs?"
http://www.politico.com/story/2013/07/mitch-mcconnell-obama-economic-speech-94671.html

Well, Senator McConnell, the jobs are in the Federal Budget Cutback for government employees
back in 2011.
Rep. Boehner even said “If some of those jobs are lost, so be it. ..."
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/02/15/boehner-so-be-it-if-us-workers-are-laid-off/

Since then 2 million jobs have been lost by government employees.

I wonder where the unemployment figure would be if these 2 million still had jobs?

Maybe McConnell can schedule a meeting with Boehner, so they can get on the same page!!!

And it really doesn't matter if it is Mitch McConnell, Bernie Sanders, or Elizabeth Warren that asks it. From one end of Government to the other it should be the first question on everyone's lips. Where are the jobs?

"Senator McConnell, you called my speech a bunch of bluster even before you've heard it. You claim that my policies have failed. In case you haven't noticed, the stock markets have rebounded, unemployment is well below where it was in 2008 when I took office, and Americans are slowly getting back to work. The thing is you HAVE noticed, but you don't want Americans to know, so you continue to spread misinformation.

You asked, Where are the jobs? The jobs are in legislation, Senator McConnell. It is not my job to create legislation. I can craft policy and push for congress to create bills to implement my policies, but it is still Congress's job to create and pass those bills. Why aren't you creating legislation and passing bills? I proposed a jobs bill several years ago. Congress didn't act on it. Congress failed to do their job. I was ready to sign a jobs bill, but that bill never made it to my desk. Why haven't you passed ANY meaningful job creation bills, or ANY Bills for that matter? I'm the president, I push for and sign bills into laws, I cannot create them. That is congress's job. You cannot blame me for failing to do YOUR job, which is to create legislation. Over the past 5 years Republicans in congress has done nothing but sit on their hands and do nothing while Americans are struggling to find work and make ends meet. Republicans would rather grandstand, gnash their teeth and moan how everything is failing when they can't be bothered to even try to pass a single law to help middle class Americans. Republicans are doing nothing in congress, they're sitting there collecting fat paychecks for doing nothing while the rest of America suffers. Republicans should start working for their paychecks.

Republicans have pushed through some legislation. You may know it as the "sequester." They claimed it would create jobs, when in fact it did just the opposite. The sequester forced many agencies to eliminate jobs. Now Republicans are rumbling about doing more of the same - cut spending and cut jobs. Republicans want to continue to eliminate jobs until the economy improves. Republicans have no interest in passing bills that will create jobs, they just want to pass bills that eliminate them.

Why am I out here making speeches? Because I have no bills to sign into law. My bill signing pen has dried up from lack of use. Republicans do not care what happens to this country. All they want to do is yell about how things are going down the river and get a big paycheck for doing nothing.

I'll be happy to sign bills that create jobs, once congress gets me a bill that will work. Until then, just remember you're paying your senators and your representative big bucks to sit around and do nothing. Call your congressperson and tell them to start working again."
