I was interested in the astrological profile of Mr. Snowden. Found one article, but turns out the website was an undesireable. Hopefully other than the usual skepticism, no one will tell me THIS site is run by right wing bookburners...
"The Planet Waves crew sent away for and received a copy of Edward Snowdens birth certificate which makes it much easier to do a comprehensive analysis of his chart. This is an extremely significant event and even Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked what became known as the Pentagon Papers, said today on CNN that Mr Snowden had done an incalculable service to his country and that his leaks might prevent America from becoming a surveillance state. (Read more here.)
Snowdens chart shows a strong Gemini influence, with not only the Sun in Gemini (at 29 degrees, an important factor we will discuss later); but also a triple or quadruple whammy involving the ascendant (Gemini ascendant, ruled by Mercury, conjoined by Mercury which is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury). All of this tells us that the Mercury/Gemini influence is extremely powerful in his chart and one of the dominating factors. (Remember Mercury is the planet the what and Gemini is the sign the how.) Throw in the fact that Mars (motivation) and the North Node (future destiny) are in Gemini and there is a powerful force for disseminating, processing and assimilating information at work in this mans chart."

(40,416 posts)Maybe this was posted here as entertainment. If so, okay. But if this is serious, I have real problems with it outside the woo woo forums.
What's next? Big foot? Ghosts? Angels? Midnight space alien abductions and flying saucers?
None of those things, including astrology belong in DU main forums.

(4,734 posts)of the use of astrologers by heads ofd state throughout history from the Pharaos all the way to FDR and Reagan has no place in these forums?

It was a bit scary when it was revealed that President Reagan was using astrology.
I know nothing of FDR doing the same. I would appreciate a citation, but I suspect that it is just made up BS.
The pharaohs? Really? Are you really going to play the argument from antiquity card?
Astrology has no place in this forum.

(4,734 posts)because unlike so many other methods of divination, it doesn't require a belief in some "higher power". It is based on natural phenon, whether one thinks such methods are erroneous is another matter.

(15,859 posts)We've all made a mistake or two of that nature. You've almost got to scour an entire site before you dare use it as a source. Ive used "natural news" before and got my head handed to me for it. Now I hardly post anything from anywhere. Its safer that way.

(4,734 posts)by a gentleman who had advanced skills in astronomy and astrology how to do a very basic chart. I was like high school calculus and he was like quantum physics level... the basic belief resonates from the IK-Ching to the bible to native americans - "as above, so below".

(154,021 posts)And I will be honest, I even had a chart done on me, it was so off it was comical...
That said, on a more serious level.. while I do not believe in any of the traditional divination methods, there is a multiverse and while the arrow of time points forwards, there is a lot of physics we really do not comprehend.
So some of those principles might be confirmed by physics in the future.
QM gets really weird.

I once watched a documentary about Army Airborne school. The instructed asked the new recruits "how many of you have ever gotten in trouble because of your sense of humor? Half of them raised their hands. The instructor said "those of you who didn't raise your hands leave. You just washed out". This was real.
