Payback is a BITCH part II

It goes way back: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021570707#post161

Lee Terry used an excuse on why he hadn't paid for at item at an auction several months before the 2012 general election. The charity decided it wasn't in their best interest to make this public information. They were afraid it would slow donations from R's! Once they folded, there was no story.

$500,000 on a credit card?

And now you know the rest of the story.

1. Help me out here. I went to the earlier DU post (linked in OP), and found

"Political breaking news in the next few days..."

It looks like there was a delay far in excess of "the next few days" if this current entry is the big new alluded to in the other OP.

As to the payback portion of this new one, what EXACTLY is the payback? Who is Lee Terry? What was the excuse? Why was there an excuse? Who folded - the R's or the charity? What charity? Whose credit card? If a credit card company allows it, why is that amount important?

He took possession of an item from a charity auction last summer and said he would send a check. At the time the charity got upset when a check didn't show up. When a threat to go to the press was made, the charity changed it's mind as it feared retaliation from other donors.

The $500,000 card debt was mentioned only because as a lawyer, he wasn't exactly the head of his class. Seems he has a debt problem. It was in his financial release in the last week or so.

From yesterday's LBN: http://www.omaha.com/article/20130711/NEWS/707119903/1685#omaha-councilman-pete-festersen-may-try-to-oust-lee-terry-from-house-seat

His PART TIME business income should be a little more scrutinized.

5. I don't understand the explanation. You mention payback, but what the payback is and what

it is for remains unclear.

*Why* should the part time business come under more scrutiny? Is there some sort of fraud or malfeasance suspected?

How is credit card debt an issue? Was there not an instance of a newly appointed Sec of Treas in arrears for back taxes? The country got past that ok, despite the guy being fiscally imprudent.

Went to the link provided in the above response, and it looks like the 'potential' opponent 'may' run, but does not have a ringing endorsement from the Dem hierarchy.

How does a person 'possibly' running against Terry a payback for anything, and what is that thing?
