This is how it starts - the RW Wackos start crazy talk, and the msm runs away with it.
Let's see how many times they did this - what insane wacko story can you think of that the msm discussed so much that people no longer knew if it was true or not?
Rather than say things like "Can you believe that we are discussing birth control in 2012? Birth control is part of today's society." End of story, they have panels on discussing it. They talked about it yesterday, every hour on the hour. They are going to talk about it today, all day. They are going to talk about it tomorrow. The pundits have given legs to another RW wacko insane talking point. It now has become a story. Everytime I turn on the TV and flip thru the cable news stations they are discussing birth control. They give more air time to Boner and the other wackos talking about how President Obama is anti-religion than they do of the Democrats in Congress standing up for Birth Control.
Yes, there are people like Rachel Maddow who handles their insanity as just that. (I'm so glad she is alive.)
So now it's birth control.
Next - the only reason Obama was able to get OBL was because of torture, something he is against, so he really didn't want to get OBL.
Hannity put it out there & rather than laughing at his stupidity, it's becoming a story. Thank you Ed. He challenged Hannity to come up with proof, and sure enough Hannity played a tape of Panetta saying that waterboarding played a part in locating OBL; and then a tape of Obama speaking out against waterboarding. Just you watch, this is not going to go away.
I'll throw in the the Swift Boat Liars. Some fools made a video making the man that should've been President, John Kerry, was really anti-American and a war criminal. And what did the msm do? Play their ads over and over and over. Discussed it. Had panels discussing it, and pretty soon the majority of Americans saw their ads and the Swiftboat liars became part of daily life.
Rather than putting these liars away, the talking heads made a lie become a story.
Every now and then it's a good thing. I'll give the example of Susan Komen. But that is the exception rather than the norm.
Why was that different? Because the media actually took the side of public opinion.... which is what they should be doing on the issue of birth control.
