It seemed like there was a big elephant in the room and he kept walking around it. I'm wondering if any New York parade for the troops would be a big terrorist target, and they're trying to gloss it over?

Who knows why.

I think it would be one more slap in the face to the vietnam vets. It could be that. Didn't catch the show so I am just guessing.

The big parade for the Iranian hostages, when VN vets hadn't had one (and didn't get a big parade until Chicago '86) did sting at the time. But VN vets have been in plenty of parades since then, including the recent St. Louis parade to welcome home Iraq War vets. That's really not an issue today.

she didn't let him get away with the ridiculous red herrings he was throwing out at every turn. She was an incredible supporter for the Iraq vets and the need to honor them with a parade.

to the troops. The outcome was not their doing. Each of them did their job. The top brass failed. If it is true that the military leaders don't want this parade, that may be the reason.

That or the fear that it would attract terrorist acts -- or more likely, that it would not attract terrorist acts and then those who capitalize on the fear of terrorism would have to explain why it did not.

The Iraqi government threw our asses out of their country. The military doesn't want to celebrate that.
