A personal observation...Rick Santorum is the BEST candidate the Republicans have...

I saw the entire GOP field in New Hampshire. Rick Santorum is a wing nut, BUT he can offer cogent arguments for his wingnuttery, he's not afraid to take questions, and he can take on people who disagree with him.

He's not as amazingly out of touch and unpopular with the base as Mitt, and he has less baggage than Newt (although that's like saying something is drier than the ocean). Santorum is palatable for the base and doesn't have any too obvious disasters waiting to come out of the closet besides his mouth.

Yeah, it's a really low bar.

and I detested him then!

I've long ago concluded that you never want any candidate to be the opposition candidate if you know he would be terrible for the country. I remember thinking "Nobody would ever vote for that idiot GW Bush, and then there he was, President! THEN I was so positive that enough people were still rational in the USA that surely they would NEVER elect him a second time!!!

Blame it on the corupt voting machines, or too many idiots still voting, but IMO, the only Pub candidate I could possibly survive being in the WH is Romney. I hate all of his berliefs (if you can believe what he says now) but at least he's a rational guy. The rest of them are flat out insane!

Unlike Mittens, he is not a multi-gazillionaire. In fact he only really started to make money once he was booted out of the senate (lost to Bob Casey by 19 points). I mean the guy isn't poor but he was never on top of the list for richest politician.

Unlike Newt, he takes his Catholism and his marriage very very serious. I highly doubt this guy has even thought about sex with any other woman than his wife.

Don't worry, Dick Santorum has alot of other baggage on his team but none of it is as crazy as what Mittens or Newt has.

He is very good at retail politics. As far as looks go, he has a younger more innocent look than Newt and Mitt. They look like grumpy old men compared to Obama. Santorum could even that variable a little for them.

I think\hope he's way too radical to get elected. We should not underestimate him if he continues to rise.

higher. Romney will probably still win but only because he has the money to squash anyone else.

Nobody likes him. Everybody hates him.

What a great choice as a Republican nominee!
