Don't believe the McCain/Graham/Paul hype. It's all about fundraising.

NRSC Raises Money Off Rand Paul Filibuster

By Joshua Miller

The National Republican Senatorial Committee Wednesday launched a fundraising effort tied to Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s ongoing talking filibuster.

The organization charged with winning GOP control of the Senate in 2014 set up a special fundraising webpage, headlined “STAND WITH RAND!”

<...>

“NRSC Chairman Jerry Moran and Vice Chairman Ted Cruz went to the Senate floor today to join his filibuster,” the NRSC wrote on a fundraising page. “Please join them in standing with Rand!”

“(I)f you want to really help secure a Senate that believes in upholding the Constitution, donate below to help us gain the 6 seats needed for a Republican Majority,” the NRSC wrote.

McConnell Calls Paul’s Filibuster ‘Extended’ And ‘Heartfelt’

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Thursday praised his colleague Sen. Rand Paul's talking filibuster of CIA director nominee John Brennan.

"Yesterday the junior senator from Kentucky took to the Senate floor to exercise his rights as an individual senator in pursuit of an answer from the attorney general concerning the rights of U.S. Citizens," McConnell said on the Senate floor. "The filibuster was extended, heartfelt, and important, and I wish to say a few words in reaction to that effort."

The question Paul raised -- can the military legally conduct a drone strike against an American citizen on U.S. soil? -- was "entirely appropriate and should have already been answered by the Obama administration," McConnell, who joined Paul's filibuster Wednesday night, said.

Al Giordano

Gullible people who think that Sen. Rand Paul’s song-and-dance on the Senate floor has anything to do with “civil liberties” or “peace” or anything good and decent need to read the transcript of him on the Rush Limbaugh show today. It’s show business, that’s all, and it plays to weak and lazy minds. Listen to how Limbaugh – a man who never met a weapons system or a violation of civil liberties he didn’t like – fawn all over the Senator, not because of the merits or demerits of any issue, but only because of his demagogic obstructionism. Read it and wake up
