(15,139 posts)Why do you obsess over a fetus but deny those already born access to health care, a quality education, decent housing, etc - all the basics that make life bearable?

(18,672 posts)...as if it was his money, or do you think he had to do it because of 'The American Dream Downpayment Initiative' signed into law by GW Bush in 2003?" I'll follow up by asking why federal charges haven't been filed against Mr Frank for wresting control from a Republican congress and senate and running a renegade organization within the government.
The ADDI demanded that government lending institutuions grant 0% loans with no down payment to low income first time buyers. The owners had to live in the homes for six years or pay the downpayment and accrued interest. The law went into effect in 2004, and when owners lost their jobs to the Great Recession they soon found themselves in a default situation. They didn't have the money to buy out, and the homes weren't worth as much as they owed.
I'm getting so sick of these Republicans making political hay on the notion that Barney Frank went against republicans by making risky loans and single handedly caused the housing crash. Only one quarter of the loans that defaulted in 2008 were held and regulated by government institutions. The other three quarters were by banks like Countryside. The truth is, Barney Frank was the only Democrat in arms reach when the house of cards Bush built collapsed.
Does no one remember the "Home Ownership President"? Bush gave that speech before a wallpaper background printed with the HUD and Fannie Mae logos.

Why do you hate us so?

They look within and see such ugliness and HAVE to believe that
they're "no different than the rest of the world".

There's all sorts of complexities and environmental factors, but I'm
feeling more and more that this is a basic foundation of that hatred
that they spew.

(20,219 posts)makes sense....we interpret the world according to our individual filters or state of life. People who are good hearted tend to assume that other people think the same way. People who are concerned with taking advantage of others assume that others are trying to do that to them.....
Most of them seem especially blind to themselves; that's the blaming everyone and everything for what they themselves do.

(50,574 posts)There are three well-known, tested and proven economic truisms:
The only reason jobs are created, anywhere, is when demand for products and services increases.
Increased government spending on civil works projects creates increased demand for products and services, both in the companies providing the work to the government and in the employees of those companies. This spending, therefore, creates jobs and always has.
Cutting taxes requires cuts in civil works investment, which reduces demand for products and services, which causes job loss.
Because we know these things and they are always true, my question is, when will the Republican Party quit pretending that cutting taxes creates jobs?

"The latest census data shows that 1 out of every 2 people in this country are poor. Are you ready to admit now that 3 decades of Reaganomics has been a dismal failure?"
