In case you missed it, this ham-radio message from the bunker stuff below is from a real Wayne Lapierre op-ed published this week...
After Hurricane Sandy, we saw the hellish world that the gun prohibitionists see as their utopia. Looters ran wild in south Brooklyn. There was no food, water or electricity. And if you wanted to walk several miles to get supplies, you better get back before dark, or you might not get home at all...
Nobody knows if or when the fiscal collapse will come, but if the country is broke, there likely wont be enough money to pay for police protection. And the American people know it...
Ominously, the border also remains open to agents of al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. Numerous intelligence sources have confirmed that foreign terrorists have identified the southern U.S. border as their path of entry into the country. When the next terrorist attack comes, the Obama administration wont accept responsibility. Instead, it will do what it does every time: blame a scapegoat and count on Obamas mainstream media enablers to go along...

Yes, the NRA is using the coming economic collapse (due to liberal profligacy), Obama's pro-terrorist policies and even Obama's mainstream media enablers as reasons you need a gun. They are "bunker conservatives" arming themselves against the coming race war when Jesus returns to smite the dark ones. They are Glenn Beck... a rallying point for the wing-nuts who think FOX is for RINOs. I predict that the NRA will become America's largest seller of dried food and survival gear in the same way AARP was/is the largest seller of medicare supplemental insurance.
And that may well be a shrewd business decision.
The NRA, as an organization, does not pursue a political ideology, the NRA pursues money and power for the NRA. The NRA apparently reasons that the best thing for the NRA to do to benefit the NRA is to embrace every insane RW mania and conspiracy theory. Like Glen Beck, they seem to have figured out that $10 from one million people is better than $1 from five million people and are shrinking and intensifying their base by becoming a pan-wingnut group with nothing to do with deer-hunting and gun safety.
We will see how it works out for them. A few days after Newtown I posted that the NRA will come out of this with less influence but more money and I am seeing nothing to change that prognostication.

(47,992 posts)Their whole modus operandi fits that OT HUMAN SACRIFICE to ***OUR*** GOD thingee that drove this country into it's most recent crime against humanity, the Invasion & Occupation of an INNOCENT country named Iraq, in which LOTS of War Profiteers got a bunch of our troops KILLED and killed a bunch of citizens while they were at it, and made off with TRILLIONS in PRIVATE PROFITS all likely directed at least in part into a TRADE/Manufacturers' group, known as the NRA, which is currently trying to FORCE the US SENATE to protect it's unregulated fast-and-furious style assault weapons markets, domestic AND FOREIGN around the world and - thus, Thus, THUS - PROTECT THE IMF AND ITS CORRUPTION THAT BEARS THE FRUITS OF TERRORISM AROUND THE WORLD THUS FURTHER INSURING THE WHORING NRA ET AL'S SUCCESS.
Its a circle.

(10,960 posts)Yeah, I can see that re-branding happening. Why not?
As the 2012 Republican primaries proved, the only energy in that Party is found in the bunkers.
