Fox figures have suggested that President Obama is anti-Catholic or anti-religion following the administration's recent decision requiring church-affiliated organizations to provide health insurance plans that cover contraceptives for women. But polling has shown that a majority of Catholics have said that insurance policies should cover contraceptives; moreover, the Obama administration has repeatedly engaged the faith-based community -- including Catholic leaders -- and has directed millions in funding to religious groups. This follow's Fox's long history of portraying Obama as hostile toward religion.

(10,602 posts)Even though I do not approve of the Roman behavior towards the Christians, I understand their attitude. Catholicism did finally win our over empire as it collapsed. Catholicism back then was a more positive force.
Today's Catholicism is very different from that era. It is also very different from the mid 20th century. I spent 16 1/2 years in Catholic schools. Back then we were taught to mind your own business. Today Catholicism has allied itself with the evilangelists and seeks to meddle in governmental affairs and force nonbelievers to tow the Christian line. The Catholic church and evilangelists are now the religious terrorists spreading hatred and bigotry. Christ would not recognize nor accept either group.
I am ok with being called anti religion and anti Catholic. Being anti religion is perfectly ok and anti Catholic is perfectly acceptable in the political arena now that they have declared war on non believers.
We need to start TAXING all churches because they have invaded out politics. The Church is now immoral in that they embrace pedophilia rather than reject it. Silence is acceptance. Bishops should be jailed as accomplices if the do not investigate abuse.

(7,290 posts)But I'm still not crazy about this rule...just as I believe that people that don't want to dispense birth control should not become pharmacists, I don't believe that people that want to utilize birth control should expect an organization that opposes it on religious grounds should have to pay for it.
I'm a big believer in all parts of the First Amendment, and I think this may well be over the line.
Of course, the Catholic Church could just have their insurers break out what portion of total premium is for contraception, and just add that to the employee portion of the premium.
I'm more concerned that they will just stop offering health coverage to their employees.
