So many would have withdrawn from the public eye, found reasons to not try - but not good, strong, very human but also vulnerable people like these.
They are the silent warriors who few give any credit to anymore. Kudos to all.

(17,149 posts)Somehow, I got connected with Gabby during her first run for the House, and donated to her campaign. I kept getting her "Cactus Roots Connections" newsletter, and really liked her. And I'm not even from Arizona, I live in San Francisco.
When my sister told me on the phone about a Congresswoman getting shot in Tuscon, my heart sank and a feeling of dread came over me. "It wasn't Gabrielle Giffords, was it?" We all know the answer.
I still love her, and I love and admire her brilliant, hero astronaut husband, Mark. We are so lucky to have these people on our side.
