The "newbie" genius at the Medina, OH was a gun vender.

You know, one of "legal and responsible" owners of multiple weapons.

I'm starting to believe the best way to get rid of the gun nuts is to make sure they have guns.

They're off to a great start on Gun Appreciation Day today. Body count three so far.

Was for work.

I was with my boss and his friend/attorney. The friend brought his daughter and she and I talked a lot in the van while she was coloring pictures of a unicorn on felt (iirc it was a unicorn).

I had three boys at home and no girls and it was different for me being around her. She knew all about guns and her picture was hung up as far away as Australia of her shooting a mini-gun when she was 11.

We all went out to eat (at friendly's or someplace like it) and then eventually headed back south to home.

A short time later she was killed when shooting a mini gun and it came loose from it's mounts and crushed her skull.

Couldn't find any old news articles on it but did find this:

In October 1995, Rachel Bigley, 13, was firing Neil Smith's triple Miniguns. Suddenly the entire set up shifted (the miniguns were not firing anymore, but they were running), stood up and then fell over backwards, and Rachel was killed instantly when the corner of the mount struck her in the forehead. The range shut down for the remainder of that day, but her father requested the shoot to continue because "Rachel would have wanted it that way."

Whenever I hear of the Medina show I think about her. She was sweet as could be (I thought she was younger at the time but I always get her pic mixed up with that event).

Her dad was one of the characters in the book 'Unintended Consequences' (though his real name was not used) as was my old boss as the author knew them all pretty well and was a good customer of ours.

Sorry for the off topic rant, but like I said every time I hear Medina it brings that time and incident up to me.
