With all these armed guards, no one would need guns in their homes for protection!

All of our problems can be explained simply: we don't have enough armed guards to protect us.
Come to think of it, sounds kind of like a police state.

A pretty comprehensive link to deadly force incidents in churches. Note that the numbers jumped dramatically in 2005, a year after the assault weapon ban expired and was not renewed.

(7,572 posts)I do not fault the minister for his wealth, because he earned it through his many wonderful books, sold worldwide. But, he has a a body-guard at all times, which is sad but necessary. We also have armed guards at all times in the foyer, and I do not know if it is because of the minister's need for safety, or if threats have made against the church, or other members. I assume it is necessary, but still makes me feel less safe in this place for some reason, which should be a place of sanctuary.

(7,572 posts)....persuasions have his books, translated all over the world. He is beloved by everyone who knows him, and does not join in with the political shenanigans of other ministers. He is in poor health, and speaks only part time here, and does not travel as extensively as he once did. I will not name him, but you might discover who he is if interested by studying the children's religious books sections at the bookstore.
Cranks are everywhere, and some just go after anyone considered religious, an awful result and blowback caused by the religious right antics, giving all Christians, really all religions, a sullied smear. Tragic and sad.
