We know from experience that the Republicans can usually get 5 or 6 Democrats in the Senate....

to vote with them on the most controversial bills. They vote according to how far out their next election might be. They understand that people forget their misdeeds in 4 or 5 years.

Tomorrow, Boehner is bringing up the $1 million dollar tax limit for a vote. It will probably pass the House and then go to the Senate. If they can get the usual suspects (call themselves Democrats) to vote for the bill in the Senate, then this problem is resolved and the Democrats do not have the stain on their hands as a Party.

They have done it before.

number of amendments that can be proposed for each bill that comes before the senate, thus when the senate leader wants to stop
rank and file senators from adding amendments to a bill he "fills the tree" with his own amendments. Reid uses the tactic quite frequently now. All the tit-for-tat in congress is destroying the nation....but in the face of republican obstruction, I don't know what else can be done. I'm sure you remember the republicans added hundreds of amendments to the ACA, dragging out the debate and then refused to vote for it.

Just curious to see whose on your list...

Maybe Manchin? Ben Nelson (yep, he's still there)? Honestly I don't see many Democrats voting for Boner's "Hail Mary". Reid has the power to keep it from coming up for a vote and I expect he'll send it to some circular file "committee". Time's short and even if there were some Democrats who would vote for this, there's not enough to over ride what would be a certain President Obama veto...
