Because Republicans generally want government to fail, they don't give money and resources for enforcement of already standing regulations for almost anything. The Republican congress rewards it's NRA, ALEC, GOA allies by defunding ATF and even the CDC so that present guns laws aren't enforced and even gathering of statistics about gun victims is quashed.

We might not be able to get much gun regulation enacted for now but if we fund what we already have and prove that regulation can save lives, we might immediately start taking the fight to the problem and set the stage for more and better regulations.

I also agree with the idea, we could start emulating some of the the anti abortion groups tactics. Life needs to be not fun anymore for gun shop owners. Gun shows should be picketed just like Planned Parenthood clinics.

It's only prudent to take small steps at first but this time we need to start moving forward. We need to start taking it to the people who make money on guns, make their lives miserable and less profitable. Force their advertisements off mainstream media. As long as we keep moving forward we can come closer and closer in the process of deconstructing the gun culture and it's infrastructure. Imagine if feds showed up at every gun store in America January 2nd and asked to see their records. Imagine if every gun show had protestors.
