(59,519 posts)I really do not think that Clark has much of a relationship with Obama and I don't think that they ever had a positive relationship. His advocacy for Clinton seemed to go beyond supporting her to attacking Obama.

(2,921 posts)Remember those classic Dean vs Clark wars?

(131,598 posts)but ended up more vs. Kerry and Clinton, and I don't think we were or are obnoxious. Many of us appreciated Dr/Governor Dean, then and now.

(22,919 posts)There were bad ones here also during the 2008 primaries, just over different Democrats. I understand how that happens but it is an ugliness I hope we can all do better at avoiding in the future. Though I backed Clark in 2004 I liked Dean also. Since 2004 my respect for both Wes Clark and Howard Dean only grew.

(63,942 posts)fellow Clarkies as very nice, very decent people, who were highly educated and idealistic.

(14,177 posts)Why yes, I think he will. But, they will not know how to complain. So, they will say some crazy stuff and their mask will continue to slip.

(2,921 posts)I just hope Clark does an admirable job (if he does get nominated) taking the mantle from Secretary Clinton - and I know their relationship with General Clark has been a good one.

(36,281 posts)...or take orders from his own commanders. He has never worked in government other than in a command-hierarchy setting. It's telling that he has never sought elected office other than the presidency-- apparently isn't interested in being part of the wheels of government, only the driver. I think that makes him a poor choice. I'd like to see him spend a few years in elected office first, in a setting that requires him to work with political leadership, serve on legislative committees, etc. Personally, I suspect it's not in his temperament.

(12,504 posts)as a much of a negotiator, mediator or much of someone who assuages and de-escalates angry rhetoric.
I maybe wrong, but there you go, a broad brush stroke of a whole slew of people.

(22,919 posts)So I like yours. Actually Clark was deeply involved with negotiations regarding Bosnia. During the hot conflict he did face to face tough talks with Milosovich, working closely with Under Secretary of state Richard Holbrook. Holbrook and Clark werer the team that headed the negotiations for the Dayton Accords that finally ended the Bossnian war. Hollbrook held Clark in the greatest respect as a negotiator and mediator.
