Beware of Darkness

We all know that "periodical cicadas" emerge from the ground every 13 to 17 years in the northeast. However, this is not about cicadas. I am reminding forum members of a type of toxic grub that comes out from under their rocks every four years like clockwork. These are known as the "Walt Starr grubs" in political science. They are not to be mistaken for the more common grub that becomes a beetle, and it was Ringo -- not Walt -- who did some fancy drumming on "All Things Must Pass."

We know that certain types of insects have evolved to appear as completely different things. The Walt Starr grub attempts to look like a Democrat. Every four years, they flock to internet sites where human beings spend time, and mimic Democrats by expressing "concerns" and attempting to stir the pot. This always picks up in the late summer of presidential elections.

You might now be thinking, "Hey, wait ..... that person who keeps making veiled insults about our party, and trying to stir up shit just might be a Walt Starr grub!" At this time, you are probably correct, for they are everywhere on the internet. Avoid them, for although they are drawn to our light, they are darkness.

Love this song and SO many others off this LP, My favorite albums are Dark Horse and Extra Texture, I was a "like them better solo" type. Really not much of a Beatles fan when they were together.

everything they did as a group, then as individuals. George added some great guitar on John's "How Do You Sleep?" ..... though Ringo scolded John and left when it was being recorded.

Earlier today, a person asked how to appropriately respond to a maga on a different forum. I suggested by avoiding it in the exact manner one should avoid any/every other steaming pile of dog feces one encounters on the sidewalk of life.

Then, my cousin told me of a fellow attacking him on facebook. It was the son of one of my cousin's friends, so he suggested I locate the post and respond. As it was an attemp-t to bully, I delivered a left hook to the jaw, so to speak. My cousin said even the father will find it hilarious.

One of my favorite versions was when Leon Russell joined George on stage. The whole concert was outstanding.

I don't mistake myself as being wise. Experienced, and fortunate to have known some very wise people. I do appreciate you, and the opportunity to watch the felon's destruction with you here on this forum!

with "your concern is duly noted." I think most web savvy people know exactly what that means. I don't think I need to add the "bless your heart" to it.

I would suggest we all figure out how to identify concern trolls along with the more obvious trolls so people who aren't quite as savvy can figure it out before they get sucked in too many times and get multiple posts hidden by said trolls.

https://mashable.com/article/types-of-online-trolls can identify some of the other types. All make an appearance here during election season. The unsubtle ones get swatted and flicked off the site within minutes. Others are a little harder to spot, the concern troll being one of the hardest.

The most blatant concern trolls are the "for the children" trolls, saving the delicate psyches of our future citizens by restricting what everybody else has access to. You see them picketing movies, calling for book bans and staging outright book burnings, trying to restrict access to recorded music, and of course, saying only they can be the arbiters of safety and good taste, always for the children.

What all trolls have in common is narcissism and a desperate need to manipulate other people into doing stupid and/or self destructive things. Ifyou know any in real life, run away.

I've long enjoyed your "thanks for your concern" responses here. And I agree that the Walt Starr grubs come in a variety of ways, some with remarkably little talent, others that we recognize but that stick around for a bit.

Thank you for that! First, it is a great song. I have a number of versions of it, and love them all.

Per the video, I liked the tip of the hat to "Wonderwall," and anything featuring Ringo. My sons brought me to one of his concerts a few years ago, which was great.
