I have a feeling -- a feeling deep inside -- that Vance will step aside to spend more time with his couch cushions. And that the felon will continue to hide from the debate stage. I know that every Democrat wants to see VP Harris thrash the felon, as do I. It will almost certainly not happen.
Late last night, as I was falling asleep, I was thinking what such a debate would look like. I prayed to the Universal Energy Source to please let it happen. I promised to give up both alcohol and cigarettes if it happens ..... easy enough since it has been many years since I've touched either.
As I drifted off, Paul McCartney's flaming lemon pie appeared in the sky, and transported me to a ringside seat for the debate between the Prosecutor vs the felon. As every Freud knows, dreams contain symbols, and as Kamala came on the debate stage, she morphed into my friend, former heavyweight champion Ray Mercer.
The audience was filled with cat ladies. There were ong ones, tall ones, short ones, brown ones. black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones. Suddenly, Eric Burdon whispered in my ear, "Spill the wine, take that pearl." Then, in slow motion, ther felon was being forced into the ring on the debate stage! It all made sense.
The felon wanted to look like one of the super heroes from one of his cosmic trading cards, available for $99 each, and was transformed from a pale white blob with an apricot Pol Pot head to Tommy "the Duke" Morrison. The fight was brief, as documented below, with the crowd chanting the Leoon line, "Everybody had a wet dream." Luckily, I had a pad & pencil beside my bed, and wrote down the entire dream when I woke up, to share with you.
Behold, the Prosecutor vs the felon:

Years ago, before Ray fought Tommy, a cp-worker at the clinic was confident that Morrison would win. Last year, I told Ray about this, and had him autograph a picture of the brutal ending, for my republican friend!

(25,434 posts)Even so, I hate boxing. It seems abusive to me.
Maybe sometime you can convince me I'm wrong?

(74,752 posts)I remember as a teen, a friend of my brothers & I dying in the ring. Being a young male, I thought, "Poor Frank," but failed to connect it to my brother and I both having fights in that same ring. It eventually took Rubin to convince me to hang up the gloves and get into college.
Years later, my brother was in a wheel chairm at times unable to recognize me. This was due to punches he took in the ring. Most of that damage was done in fights he won. I talked a lot about this with my cousin Jim, who was the head of neurology at Temple. My brother eventually died from those punches that "didn't hurt."
Fast forward to more recent years. My son won three state Golden Gloves titles. A number of top trainers, including former world champions, wanted to manage him in the pros. But unlike myself, my boy had his late uncle's "that didn'y hurt" concept of defense. Now, I had fought 329 fights, and had been featured in a top boxing magazine at the age of 13. But most opponents couldn't have hit me with a handful of pebbles. The worst injuries I now deal with are my hands, especially one finger that I broke several times, and was too stupid to let heal properly.
My worst nightmare came when my daughter in Boston started boxing. To make matters worse, she was really good, as I had taught both daughters self-defense. She trained in the lasst gym that Rubin ever visited. Yikes! I was eventually able to convince both her and her brother to stop boxing.
Boxing is both beautiful and brutal. There are times I can't stand what I see, but it has been such a large part of my life that I tend to view everything in the context of the sport.

A short musical interlude from ca. 1970:
The giraffe, FWIU, was a message from Stephen S. to his girlfriend, Rita C., who is reported to have dumped him for one Graham N. Dunno where Joni M. fitted in.

(74,752 posts)I have heard that Rita went from Stephen to Graham. Man, what great music there was back then! It was an important part of the social-political movements of the day. I think it is important that we play these songs now, to lift the positive energy higher, so to speak!
