The Israeli military has launched a devastating airstrike on Rafah, allegedly killing 50 people who were displaced and living in tents.
Palestinian medics said an Israeli air strike killed at least 22 people when it hit tents for displaced people in the southern Gaza city and 'numerous' others were trapped in the debris.
Footage from the scene showed heavy destruction and flames but there were no immediate details on the target.
The Israeli army said it was unaware of anything occurring in the area.

(5,176 posts)it, just, gets worse. How much pain, starvation, and death are these people
to bear before Israel is made to stop?

(9,952 posts)The headline says: '50 people' who were displaced and living in tents.
The body of the text says at least 22 people in tents for displaced people.
And on a completely unrelated topic:
Numerous rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards central Israel, the first rocket barrage directed at the area in months.
--snip--
The rockets were fired from launchers located just a few hundred meters from IDF soldiers in the Gaza Strip, the IDF confirmed Sunday. The launchers were located between two mosques. The IDF struck the launchers shortly after the rockets were fired.

and
An IDF aircraft struck a Hamas compound in Rafah, targeting head of Hamas Gaza division Yassin Rabia, along with Khalid Nagaar, a senior member of the Gaza division, the IDF reported on Sunday.
The IDF announced "A short while ago, aircraft attacked a Hamas terrorist organization's compound in Rafah where senior terrorists were present.
"The attack targeted terrorists who are legitimate targets under international law, using precise munitions, and was based on prior intelligence indicating the use of the area by Hamas terrorists.

The body of the text still says at least 22 people in tents for displaced people.

(19,731 posts)And youre arguing death count as it catches up with the counting of charred and smoldering remains of children.
This was a safe zone civilians were ordered to remain in and then their shelters were attacked with an incendiary weapon burning them alive. Netanyahu is a madman and he is turning the US against Israel. He needs to go or the US will be forced to abandon Israel to defend itself alone.
Netanyahu has no plan to defeat Hamas. He has no plan to get hostages back. His only plan is bombing Gaza until there is nothing left.

(9,952 posts)I thought it was clear: I am pissed at the reporters too lazy and opportunistic to match their headlines with their content.
Can you see anything arguing about death count in it? I don't.

(19,544 posts)Because it has been proven or because it was a designated civilian area? Hamas has a history of not respecting such designated areas.
Big Blue Marble
(5,176 posts)including burning alive babies and children is justified when Hamas does not "respect such designated areas"?
Most would consider this a war crime.

(19,544 posts)And since you didn't answer my question if it was the location of Hamas launch site, I will assume you do not know.

(5,176 posts)West Bank Hamas Leaders. The strike had nothing directly to do with the
missile launch site location, but was opportunistically, based on intelligence
as they have indicated.

(19,544 posts)If it was a launch site I would have expected them to mention it.
Given the target, it was a poorly executed attack with unacceptable civilian casualties.
