(15,909 posts)Why is some judge somewhere sitting on the notification that Bannon has exhausted all appeals so long?

(61,488 posts)... before reporting jail to the Judge of what day he intends to turn himself over. There is no special group of US Marshals waiting to scoop him up. There will be an order made to pick him up if there hasn't been one already. More importantly, this is the process. There is nothing unusual or beyond what your rights to delay as long legally as he has if you were in the same situation. His desire to duck out is no different than any other criminal's in the same situation he is in when the crime isn't considered bad enough to require immediate remandment at sentencing. This is not uncommon. Criminals do not like following the rules: that's the nature of criminality.
The prosecution in his case has been proactive on this. This is no different than Rudy trying to duck out on Arizona and braggong he was getting away with it at his birthday party and he did get taken in hand there. Bannon was there, but at this time no order to gather him up was out. He is trying to make this as public as possible to gin some sort of sympathy, and to show his followers he is not going to cave in to "injustice". I bet he gets nabbed this week somewhere, he's nothing special, he is just another fugitive. He will be in the can soon enough for the seriousness of the crime(which isn't murder or armed robbery), which he is still trying to frame as an unfair prosecution for ducking what he and Navaro, who did report to prison, got four months for.
He's doing this for his blog audience and it will not got well for him in the end. Four months? He could do that standing on his head. He just wants to be taken by Marshals while playing outlaw until it happens.
He's an ass acting like an asshole. But he will serve his sentence. Every day of it, making noises about the unfairness of it just like Navaro is.

HOWEVER, you know they're tracking the slimeball, so he may have inadvertently led the authorities to his party.

(28,631 posts)When Rudy posted that pic on Social Media, he taunted the AZ AG:
An hour and 14 minutes later, Mayes responded to Giulianis post, writing, The final defendant was served moments ago. @RudyGiuliani, nobody is above the law.
Stupid Rudy's Birthday Party
I love this story.

(56,281 posts)And then look for the farthest place in the nation from that person. That is probably where you will find Steve Bannon.
Guys like him want to treat arrest warrants like Gym Jordan treats subpoenas, except that resisting an arrest warrant might have slightly more serious consequences, even for a Republican.

(33,349 posts)The prosecution filed a motion for the judge to release his stay on Bannon's jail date. The judge gave Bannon until May 20 to respond. The judge has not ruled on the prosecution motion as of now. No drama here. Just standard court procedure.
