This according to Ron Filipkowski on twitter, who also points out that one of the most common refrains on RW social media is "even CNN agrees with us!"So this should put to bed the idea I hear expressed here and elsewhere that CNN is leaning right for ratings. Their ratings began tanking after they did their pep rally with a stacked audience for cheato and continue to sink. They've had time to adjust and they obviously aren't interested.

(13,922 posts)They should have turned back toward hard news.
Start each hour with a news summary and list of in depth stories upcoming that hour.
Set aside time slots for opinion shows or news specials.
I think it would have stopped the bleeding and as people came to trust them again would increase and stabilize a reliable viewership.
But nope. They blew it.

(20,141 posts)I would watch a network like that.

(5,890 posts)I suspect many of us actually want a NEWS program, and not politics 24x7. Other than polls, interviews with potential voters and opinionators, CNN offers little else.

(8,499 posts)If I didn't feel like listening to music, I'd sometimes leave CNN on while piddling around with stuff around the house. But they ramped up the prescription drug commercials to where they got to be noise pollution.
The dancing Jardiance lady pushed it over the edge.

The bad thing is that CNN is the only 24-hour news program on the Dish Network Flex Pack. Since I downgraded to that I lost MSNBC and even FXN. I have the local channels OTA so I mostly stick to the 1 hour of evening news.

(23,943 posts)Christiane Amanpour, Anderson C., Jake Tapper (still determining, he has seemed to changed from what he used to be like). And plus there are a couple of more of them I can't recall at the moment.

(810 posts)She deserves so much better than a Saturday block on CNN. News networks nowadays prefer the glitzy anchors over real, competent and actually professional journalists.

(8,499 posts)She happens to be on when I sometimes tune in, and I remember her from "Street Signs" on CNBC.
Hell, I even liked Maria Bartiromo when she was on CNBC. I was more into money than politics back then. Who am I kidding, I still am.

(10,371 posts)Programming is of course more of a world aspect, maybe focusing on the UK a bit more than I'd like. But if you want a relatively Trump free news zone....

(14,861 posts)CNN suffered its worst ratings among primetime viewers in the most coveted demographic by advertisers dealing a gut punch to embattled new boss Mark Thompson.
The cable channel, which touts itself as the most trusted name in news, drew just 83,000 viewers aged 25 to 54 during the week of May 13-19 from 8 to 11 p.m. its lowest-rated week since 1991, according to Nielsen.
By contrast, Fox News garnered more than the twice the audience in the key demo, with 186,000 viewers, according to Nielsen. Left-leaning MSNBC was a distant second with 111,000, the data showed.

(810 posts)Tf? Fox is boring as hell since Tucker left. He's undeniably a shitty person, but effective at being somewhat entertaining unlike the other hosts. My running theory is that liberals/Dems tend to watch less cable news & opinion shows because they're less likely to need their views reinforced by entertainers and show boaters. Not that we're 100% immune to it, but still.

(20,141 posts)is that slightly more key demographic voters watched either CNN or MSNBC than Faux. So slighty more than half are watching either moderate or progressive programming.

I guess pharmaceutical and reverse mortgage ads are a lucrative business.
It'll be interesting to see what these channels look like in 15 or so years. Their live audiences are literally dying off.

"The biggest quality difference in my mind is that most of CNN International consists of actual reporting, whereas much of CNN domestic is shouting heads. Especially during the afternoon/evening hours, much of what you see hear is a bunch of people shouting at each other with little enlightenment. As a result, CNN International spends a lot more time on reporting actual news as opposed to speculation in fake 'strategy sessions' on what might happen in elections 4 years from now."
"CNN International also seems to have a lot less celebrity coverage."
"It's too bad that CNN International isn't available in the U.S. CNN clearly knows how to do quality journalism -- we just don't have access to it." - Rakesh Agrawal

and we all know they aren't going to do anything about it. Everyone speculating on the results of the trial, why listen
it is up to the jury. We all know he won't go on trial for his other crimes until the election is over and if he wins nothing will happen/
