In Detroit NAACP speech, Biden warns 'unhinged' Trump is looking for 'revenge' in 2024

(Michigan Advance) President Joe Biden told a crowd in Detroit on Sunday night that former President Donald Trump is seeking reelection not to lead the country, but for “revenge.”

“Trump isn’t running to lead America. He’s running for revenge. And revenge is no way to lead a country,” Biden said at the Detroit NAACP’s 69th annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner. “You can’t build a future on revenge.”

Biden reminded voters of the state of the country when he inherited it in 2021, when COVID-19 vaccines were just becoming available, offering some security after months of a global pandemic that had claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.

“Trump is trying to make the country forget just how dark things were when he was president,” Biden said. “We’ll never forget him lying about how serious the pandemic was, telling Americans to inject bleach. I think that’s what he did, that’s why he’s so screwy.” ..................(more)

4. I realize this isn't the way he or Democrats want to look presidential

but you don't bring a knife to a gun fight. The way to beat a bully that doesn't know when to give up is to play by his rules. Trump's entire game is to drive his opponents crazy and deflect so if you instead deflect back to him it will have an even more magnified effect on him. He will have to be even more outrageous in his mind to fight back and that's a really bad look for someone who already is unhinged.

5. Way too passive of a message

Always behind the GOP.

The Republican party has already moved on. Its now the Trump Party, with his family taking over the RNC. And Trump followers WANT the revenge. That is a voting incentive for them. They WANT a dictatorship.

The messaging should be radically altered. They have to accept that half of voting Americans (at least in swing States) WANT their vote taken away, and a dictator installed. Who they think will enact all their wishes, and America will be transformed into some imaginary Great America that once existed. They now believe that is the only way to restore the country to what they think they want.

The messaging now should be honest warnings about what a dictatorship will bring. The "first they came for...." messaging. The comparisons to Nazi Germany, or probably more effective, communist countries like the old USSR and China. That that is what will come. Stop sugar coating it with joking around about Trump's bleach injection gaff. His voters are in a cult, and that is so passe, they are now committed to dictatorship. That is what has to be exposed and discredited.

They should have ads now like "So you think you want a dictatorship. Lets show how that is a bad idea...."

Also, Democrats should start intentionally referring to the Republican party as the Trump Party from now on in every interview. Make those few moderates left in the R party to have to face the music.
