Their job is to raise money for themselves. They do it through performance art involving pauodo religious topics.

But first and foremost their job is business, and that business is raising money.

Pat Robertson, Franklin Graham and their ilk are CBR - Cash Based Religion.

Judas was an early, modern-day, conservative disciple.

Judas got 30 pieces of silver, but just once, for selling Christ.

Franklin Graham, Jim Bakker, Pat Robertson, and their ilk get millions of dollars repeatedly for selling Christ.

Judas was a fool for doing a one-time sale.

You send in the dough to show your love for the Lord. If their version of the alleged deity is accurate you would think that He/She/It could it's own bills without the aid of the suckers financing the mansions and personal jets of the con men?

8. Why condemn Swaggert & et al for what clergy has done

Since the founding of the religion?

I mean, really, one of the first stories of the post-ascension era is when Peter confronts two people for not handing over all of their money to the cult, and we get a BS story about gawd striking them dead for it, rather than the obvious likelihood that Peter murdered them for their money. It's right there in Acts 5:1-11.

Did you see how clergy were living over the ensuing centuries? This was the home of one of their 15th century clergy:

A peek inside:

That cardinal's home is now the site of the Valencia Parliament.

And that's but one example of clergy living a luxurious life on their church funds.

One could list literally tens of thousands of historical examples that demonstrate how common this is. It's gone on long enough to qualify as a feature of the religion, not a bug.
