Well! Buying a car, round 2! Way easier than the 1st time a couple of days ago!

No hassle, got what I wanted and paid close to the price I wanted to pay!

Here is the kicker! I went into a sister company dealer and brought a Hyundai Elantra with the extras and payment are in the range I want them to be! The salesman was a professional and not pushing me into something I can’t afford. He understood my situation and was very helpful to assist me with the process. Not many salesman would have the patience to do this.

So now, I will go to the bank tomorrow sign the papers for the loan. Payments are a little higher than I would like but I intend to pay it off in as a short time as possible! Plus a portion of the insurance check came today, I can pay majority of it back in one fell swoop!

All in all, a great day! I only spent about an hour at the dealership and it was the first only one I stopped at!

Oh by the way? The color is flame maroon red! Pretty sharp color!

Let them work the deal knowing what I wanted to pay...got the exact car I wanted with the options I wanted and color. No hassle for me. The one previous to that I did the work and only communicated with dealerships that had Web Sales rep (I forget what they used to call them). Anyway, these people were not on commission and again I got the deal and car I wanted.

Congrats to you and I hope you enjoy the car. I travel a bit for work and I have rented the Elantra in the past. Quite impressed with its features and comfort. I remember when Hyundai first started selling cars in the U.S.....they were pretty bad quality...but they sure have turned themselves around.

Kudos for your plan to pay off quickly! I bought a new car in August, accelerated payments, and finished paying roughly three weeks ago--saved $11,000 in interest doing it. Hope you can do likewise! Sounds like a sweet ride, hope it works out well for you!

They grab attention of law enforcement even at 5 miles above limit. 🤓

Take some or all of that insurance check and add it to the down payment. Your payment will go down and you may get a better interest rate also.

I pick the car and model, then email dealers within 200 miles. I get their best price then a little back and forth, then go to a local dealer and ask them to meet the price. 4 out of five times, the lowest price has been out of area. Don’t mind a drive to save some money.

Backstory: The weekend we moved to the Oregon Coast, my wife skidded on the ice at about 5mph into the guardrail, which was then followed by an all-wheel drive doing likewise into her. Thankfully, no injuries, but there was much more bodywork needed than the insurance wanted to pay for, so we needed a new second car. One of the drawbacks to living where we do, is that the nearest Honda dealers are 50-to-85 miles away. We went to the biggest one in the Portland area, telling them, "This'll either be the easiest sale of the day or no sale at all," told them what we wanted and asked what they wanted for it. They proceeded to make us sit there for a while before they showed us the stats for a new, previous-year's model and asked what we were willing to pay for it. As we walked away telling them they'd waited our time, the salesmen rained us to come back when we were serious about buying a car.

We immediately went to a different dealership a few miles away, starting the process over. They asked if were Costco members. When we told them we were, they showed us the Costco price, which was acceptable, so they prepped it and we to it home the same day.

My only regret is that it was late in the day by this point, so we had to get home to let the dogs out, so I was unable to go back to the first dealer.

If you get the chance, you may want to show your new car off to the first dealer
