IF Cohen maintains
IF Stormy Daniels cannot
IF Trump will
IF the bookkeeper cannot
. And on and on.
We just heard from TMZ that Stormy wore a bulletproof vest to the trial. Besides the fact that I didnt know that they came in all sizes, thats interesting. But what I find fascinating is that all these great minds are concerned about the cross-examination of the prosecution witnesses and have spent countless hours dissecting the lines of questioning which will undermine the prosecutions case.
Now Im going to assume for the sake of this post that the defense will call witnesses but I have yet to hear as to the fear that the defenses case will be shattered by one of the witnesses caught in a lie or contradiction. See, if someone is telling the truth, then it is much more difficult to accuse them of being duplicitous especially when their version has been buttressed by multiple accounts of others. There is the possibility that the defense will tell the jury that no crime was committed and to find the defendant not guilty because he didnt violate the statutes the prosecution claims apply to this case.
But who knows? No one knows whats going to happen, how its going to happen or why it happened until it does. I was a voracious reader and viewer of the OJ Simpson event, and there were all kinds of predictions ranging from a not guilty verdict to life in prison or execution. These included permanent house arrest, various sentences of x many years, and the like. Or
that he would commit suicide in his jail cell and much discussion of that occurred. There were also predictions that people would be so obsessed with this case that it would utterly and completely dominate the news for years following the trial, as though there were no universe extant outside of OJ.
Those of you who are old enough may remember Jimmy the Greek, an oddsmaker who used to appear on The NFL on CBS with Brent Musburger on Sundays. He would make predictions of who would win the game but everyone knew he was referring to the point spread. He was actually wrong more often than he was right but they never ever reviewed his picks after the fact, a glaring issue but one that was never addressed on CBS at least. (He was visually and commentarialy disappeared after he made racially insensitive remarks
actually jaw-dropping, on national TV. You can look it up).
In the same fashion we have all these lawyers and public officials guessing and I virtually guarantee you that the vast number will be entirely wrong but will never be brought on and asked to discuss the reasoning that was entirely mistaken, since their alter egos are Mr/Ms/Dr/ Im-always-right-about-everything.
As my brother of blessed memory used to say, So well see what happens and worry about it then.
