GRIM BIDEN WARNING ABOUT TRUMP THREAT AT PRESS DINNER

"President Joe Biden made a number of jabs at Donald Trump before shifting his tone to address what journalists have to take “seriously” about the former president at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday.

Biden — toward the end of his speech to the D.C. crowd — reflected on his address marking the 3rd anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack where he noted that Americans must answer “whether democracy is still” America’s most “sacred cause” this year.

“The defeated former president has made no secret of his attack on our democracy. He said he wants to be a dictator on day one, and so much more. He tells supporters he is their revenge and retribution. When in God’s name you ever heard another president say something like that?” Biden said.

He continued, “And he promised a bloodbath when he loses again. We have to take this seriously. Eight years ago, you could’ve written [it] off as just Trump talk but no longer. Not after January 6. I’m sincerely not asking you to take sides, but ask you to rise up to the seriousness of the moment. Move past the horse race numbers, the gotcha moments.”

I have seen this play out over many decades.

I am old enough to remember straight journalism, Howard Cronkite and his like on TV, traditional newspaper journalism.

But, the right wing started up with their "liberal press" bs, and relentlessly attacked them, and then their overall brainwashing effort ultimately dug in with many who got into it who deep down actually think and believe the evil liberal boogyman bs.

They vast majority now are conditioned to do the bad news for dems and prop up Rs thing.

That is their role in this shit show.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Regan
Donald Thomas Regan[a] (December 21, 1918 – June 10, 2003) was the 66th United States secretary of the treasury from 1981 to 1985 and the White House chief of staff from 1985 to 1987 under Ronald Reagan.

Regan studied at Harvard University before he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1946, he began to work for Merrill Lynch, serving as its chairman and CEO from 1971 to 1980.

In the Reagan administration, Regan advocated "Reaganomics" and tax cuts as a means to create jobs and to stimulate production.

(1975 (dang, I'm old!) a writer for our school newspaper came to me doing a survey of students asking who our favorite TV personalities were. He was expecting us to name some sitcom star or some similar bullsh*t personality. When I told him mine was Walter Cronkite, he looked at me like I had two heads or something. He tried to deflect back to his BS expectation, and when I refused to bite, sticking with "Uncle Walter," he called me a weirdo and walked off in a huff. But to this day, I stand by my answer. Walter was, and is still, truly the best (but Dan Rather is close behind).

Howard Cosell.

Yup.

Decades ago, he started us down the road toward what we all know as “Saturday Night Live.” Only, in this case, it was a variety program known as “Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell.” It lasted a few months on ABC. I never paid much attention to it and didn’t watch cuz it was on earlier in the evening.

But it evidently gave somebody over at rival NBC some ideas. What erupted out of that thinking eventually became what we all have known and loved for decades as “Saturday Night Live.”

Background details:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Live_with_Howard_Cosell

But for awhile there, you could not escape Howard Cosell. He was even in a Woody Allen movie!

Approach with the polls is probably what accounts for the big difference in the perceived closeness and then who actually wins.

That’s why Chris Hayes did a show in which, replete with charts and graphs, he showed us the real trend to look at is who has been winning races. That was after the “red wave.” But you still see people panicking over every close poll reported between Biden and trump.

This may be what Biden had in mind when he made the remark.

As for myself, I have a good deal of market research in my work background. Yes, millions, even billions of dollars in marketing decisions are made on such research but here’s what is missing: when those marketers make decisions about strategy, it is never just those “polls” that are the factor. There is so much else they look at. The comparable would be the Chris Hayes approach.

We just have to accept that the MAGAs are simply brainwashed and t Thelost. Disciples of their Antichrist, beyond either reason or hope. In effect, zombies.

Our only hope is for those of us who are NOT lost, not beyond reason, who don't want this nation to become a one party fascist dictatorship completely subservient to the will of Trump,

to put aside the differences, the apathy, to rise to the challenge, unite, and vastly outnumber them.

Every conservative is fueled by the same false hope. That if Donald Trump wins the election. He will be able to pardon himself. And make all of his crimes and legal jeopardy magically go away. And nobody will ever know or remember that he tried to illegally overturn the results of the election that he lost...But this is obviously not the case...
The more intelligent people are fully aware that if Donald Trump is convicted of felonies in New York. He will not be able to pardon himself. Even if he wins the election. Presidents do not have the ability to pardon other people or themselves for state crimes. They can only pardon other people or themselves for federal crimes. Trump's current criminal trial only involves state crimes. If Donald Trump is convicted of felonies in New York. He will always be a convicted felon....If Trump's criminal election case in Georgia doesn't begin before the 2024 election. Donald Trump will still have to go through that criminal trial. After his term as president. (This is not the point of this post. As most of us are already know this. The point of this is to help other democrats understand which messaging we should use) This is the key!!!
I have to talk to and deal with conservatives every single day. Both in person and online. There is absolutely nothing that you can say to them. That discourages and disappoints them more. Than when they come to the realization that Donald Trump will not be able to pardon himself for any of his crimes in his New York and Georgia criminal cases. It takes away the perceived power that they falsely believe they have. And it leaves them with a candidate who, if convicted. Will always be a convicted felon. And a candidate who is going to have to go through a criminal trial for trying to illegally disenfranchise a record setting number of Americans. Whether he wins the election or not......
The key is in spreading this message. And informing conservatives that Trump winning the election. Would not be some kind of magical cure-all for all of his crimes and legal jeopardy. Most conservatives have no idea that Trump will not be able to pardon himself for at least half of his crimes. I have tried everything I can think of to reach them (None of these people mind or care that Trump tried to illegally overturn the results of the election that he lost. What they care about more than anything in the world. Is the idea of him not being held accountable, convicted, or punished for it) If he is convicted in New York, he will always be a convicted felon. If his criminal trial in Georgia doesn't happen before the 2024 election. He will still have to go through that criminal trial.
This is the simplest and most effective way to discourage conservative enthusiasm for voting in the 2024 election. You have to take away their false right-wing fantasy. And inform them that the record setting number of Americans who voted for Joe Biden. Are not going to somehow decide that they want to vote for the presidential candidate. Who has been arrested and charged with dozens of felonies. And is currently out on bail for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Because he tried to illegally disenfranchise their votes. ..........See you all in the comments sections! Hopefully.
