Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) on Friday endorsed former Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn's bid for a congressional seat in Maryland.
Why it matters: It's the latest signal of the Jan. 6 veteran's frontrunner status in the race as he heavily outpaces his opponents in fundraising and endorsements from members of Congress.
.......................
Pelosi, a Maryland native, said she "saw Officer Dunn's courage firsthand in the face of unprecedented violence and insurrection on January 6th, when he stood firm to protect the Capitol."
..................
By the numbers: Dunn has raised $3.7 million so far and had nearly $1.7 million in cash-on-hand as of the start of April, making him one of the most well-funded House candidates in Congress.
State Sen. Sarah Elfreth, one of his top opponents in the Democratic primary, has raised $915,000 over the same period.
