People have debated this point, and many thought other trials, more serious ones like J6 and the
classified document trials should go first.
But the psychology is better for the hush money, election interference trial.
We have Americans who:
-have no interest in politics
-only seem to understand simple issues.
-want to be entertained, not listen to dry facts.
-can only understand things that have personal relevance to themselves.
-have short attention spans.
So a trial involving a porn star, Playboy bunny, and the National Enquirer will catch
most people's attention right off the bat.
A man having an affair with a porn star when his wife just had a baby will set tongues wagging.
Infidelity is a more understandable sin compared to insurrection and stealing classified docs.
Everyone has seen the National Enquirer and knows it is slimy, any connection to it has to be bad.
So the trial will definitely get the public's attention, then the bribe and hush money can be discussed, and introduce the election interference. How Trump may have swung the election by this tactic. Along with Russian interference which I hope the media ties to the trial as well.
It is a win-win. Even in the event that a jury member throws the trial, Trump is still painted as a disgusting human being. And his behavior in court will underscore this fact because he is clearly acting out like a deranged toddler.

(6,562 posts)Something I can't understand is why he is now admitting that he did pay the money. I can see that he wants to defeat the higher felony count by breaking that chain of evidence. But, now the public knows for sure that he did make the payment. It is not a "legal expense." Here he is during trial trying to cover up the cover up. It won't make a lot of sense to most anybody. What a liar. And, he's trying to blame an accountant.
Everybody knows that he cheated on his wife with a sex worker, and then paid her off to keep silent about it before the election. Some "business expense." He would have to testify to that line of malarkey to get that reasoning in front of the jury, so maybe he really intends to testify. I dunno. But, I agree with you. This case is the simplest to understand, and carries with it the possibility of Trump going to jail for at least a few months.
Thirty-four counts will be hard to defeat. He will have to break the compounding line of evidence in order to come up with even just a misdemeanor. He should have tried to plead down to a misdemeanor, because now he is even admitting he did it, anyway. It makes no difference. People are now focusing on his drooling mouth rather than his candidacy. I love it. I hope he continues to nod off.

(162 posts)Right now Mango Mussolini is a first time offender as far as the legal system is concerned. (of course, we all know he is a life long offender) With no felonies on his record, the sentencing guidelines will go much lighter on him. If we get a guilty verdict in this trial, that will change his status in all the future trials. As a convicted felon, the sentences for any future guilty verdicts will get much stiffer.

He is a career criminal. And should be treated as such.

And the reporters tweeting out facts is enticing and drama filled.
People are used to having access to any and all info 24/7.
The trial is not that way, we have to wait to get second hand information.
Makes it more appealing and almost addictive?
I think it is rolling out perfectly from a psychological point of view.

The trial is already salacious.

(3,115 posts)Especially among low IQ individuals. Assuming they follow the story for the porn star sex, they may actually learn about the bribes and what Pecker and Cohen did, and the real reason behind all of it: to smear his opponents with ugly lies, and to conceal and pervert the truth about TSF from voters, so he could win the presidency fraudulently.
*If* they manage all that (I know, a reach) and are at all disgusted by the scummy, cheating dishonesty of TSF, then maybe, just maybe, it might peak their interest to actually look at what else the bastard is guilty of in the Georgia case, the J6 case, and the classified docs case.
Who knows? A girl can hope...
