Folks, 72 hours away to Donald J Trump FIRST Criminal Trial.
1. He MUST be present, quiet at all times and sitting in a civil manner.
2. If Trump out burst or disrupt the precedings, the Judge can and probably remove him from the courtroom.
3. If the judge removes Trump from the courtroom during this trial, unlike a civil trial, he can be held in jail during the Criminal Trial....

He is going to be convicted

(22,168 posts)I believe hell be convicted at trial. But its going to be quite a show with his ass sitting in court every day.
Imagine the times we live in! The Republican nominee for President will be a convicted felon yet millions of voters support him. If a Democrat had an outstanding speeding ticket, Republicans would crucify them. Gotta love their consistency.

(2,944 posts)Wonder what the NY case law is around that gambit. I'm sure it has happened before so hopefully it has settled precedent and the trial moves on.

(15,344 posts)There will be a hearing, which will chew up a few days at least.
The judge can deny tsf's request, and compell him to continue on with his current team. Or he can grant a stay while he finds new lawyers and brings them up to speed. Or he can appoint a lawyer.
But under no circumstances would he force him to represent himself, or appoint a lawyer and not give that lawyer some amount of time to become familiar with the case.

(17,381 posts)The judge will not want to do anything that would give this asshole a reason to appeal.

(28,875 posts)that gambit could fail.
"Have you engaged another attorney? No? Do you wish to represent yourself? No?" Motion denied, shut up and sit down. Take it up on appeal.
he has got to be the world's worst client. ugh

(1,204 posts)Here is the thing on him to do the unthinkable. If he fires, four of his current lawyers, who are being funded by the SuperPacs and RNC, which of itself questionable, can he actually do the firing? Campaign financing has decisions to be based by campaign boards. Yes a defendant has a right to do what he may want, but Campaigns have lawyer contracts. Be interesting to learn the fine details of "where the money comes from and what the money says"....
But the court could just do a quick hearing of the motion. Judge could deny. It is very well known and it is documented that Trump has delay everything he does....

(19,217 posts)for the daily "press conferences" (campaign commercials) the networks will give Trump each and every day after court adjourns.
Trump will demand it, and the networks will once again oblige by giving Mango Mussolini all the free airtime he believes he deserves. 🙄

(24,290 posts)I understand there have been 500 individuals called to be prospective jurors. You can bet the Trump attorneys will stretch out the "jury voir dire examination" for as long as they can.
Not sure they will continue over the weekend.

(50,398 posts)Then of course Trump does exactly that.
So who will make Trump attend the trial?
And how?

outside court too. He is in a world of hurt and knows it too. D.A. Bragg has all the receipts, the needed evidence,
the needed witnesses, and the law on his side,
Btw is the case in Manhattan going to be televised?
I look for him to flee @ sometime in the near future.
