And we respond with – why not? Well, part of it is we were totally fascinated by the rise of fascism in yet another country that joins the Steve Bannon fascist-verse. And is it OK to make fun of Javier Milei here? Because we are going to unload. Yes, we’ve been saving some of our best material of the season for this one! Yes, we know that he could potentially have his assets seized by the New York attorney general… but we all know damn well that he’s walking out of this without a scratch. Ain’t no justice for that man, I tell you! In the number 3 slot this week, we got to talk about an absolutely bizarre scandal involving the world of sports. Baseball’s golden boy, the Los Angeles’ Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani is in a whole heap of trouble after his translator (3) got busted for stealing and gambling away large sums of his money, but who’s really to blame here? And how far back does this thing go? Something isn’t sitting quite right here. Taking the 4th slot this week is our old friend libsoftiktok (4). Yes, the most dangerous account on Twitter/Shitter is back and Chaya is taking her trans derangement syndrome fight to... Planet Fitness. Why? Because of an old commercial. Yes, these people need serious lives. Seriously, MAGAs, can you admit that you’re bad at this? Taking the fifth slot this week is a new “We’re All Gonna Die” (5) and this week, we have to talk about the clusterfuck surrounding the controversial Boeing 737 Max 9, and a whole slew of other catastrophes involving the embattled aviation manufacturer, but the problem once again lies at the top! In the number 6 slot this week is of course our weekly visit to the Holy Church Of The Top 10 in “Holy Shit” and this week, you may have heard about a controversial Pay To Pray app called Hallow that’s being endorsed by celebrities like Mark Wahlberg and Justin Bieber, and it’s every bit as scammy as you might think it is! You know we’re in Argentina this week. And it’s absolutely insane to watch country after country around the world get knocked off and succumb to this bizarre new ideology of neo-fascist authoritarianism that’s rising up in places like Turkey, The Philippines, India, Brazil, Italy, the UK, Hungary, China, Japan, the list goes on and on. And the countries where it’s rising up like Canada and Germany are particularly alarming to watch. So when Argentina joined what we’ve been calling the Facsist-verse… yeah worst superhero universe ever… we couldn’t help but want to take a trip to South America. Javier Milei is quite the insane individual, and he’s the exact kind of “leader (?)” that the Fascist-verse seems to attract. The fact that he’s been to Mar-A-Lago is absolutely no surprise either. But in fact, while Milei is doing the opposite of what voters hoped he’d bring to the table, he’s taking his fight internationally. And yes, Argentina has its’ own version of Alex Jones, who you really shouldn’t listen to. So yeah these are what we would call in America, some “bad hombres”.

Colombia ordered the expulsion of Argentine diplomats from their embassy in the Andean nation, Colombia’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday, citing “denigrating” comments by Argentine President Javier Milei about Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

In a recent interview with news channel CNN, which has not yet been aired in full, Milei called Petro a “terrorist,” “murderer” and “communist.”

“The Argentine president’s comments have deteriorated the trust of our nation, in addition to offending the dignity of President Petro, who was democratically elected,” the ministry said in a statement.

In January, Colombia recalled its ambassador to Argentina after similar comments from Milei.

Argentine President Javier Milei has announced plans to dismiss 70,000 government employees in the coming months, showcasing his "chainsaw-style" approach to drastically reduce the size of the state, Bloomberg reported.

Speaking at an event on March 26 Milei also revealed his decision to halt public works, reduce funding to provincial governments, and terminate over 200,000 social welfare programs, labelling them as corrupt. These actions form part of the libertarian leader's strategy to achieve fiscal equilibrium by any means necessary this year.

Although the number of job cuts represents only a fraction of Argentina's 3.5 million public sector workforce, Milei is likely to encounter resistance from powerful labour unions. The move also poses a risk to his high approval ratings. One union initiated a strike on March 26, while a government report highlighted the significant wage decline experienced by private sector workers since Milei assumed office in December.

Only 10 days after the leading bishops of Argentina met with President Javier Milei and complained to him about the growing poverty in the South American country, the Bishops’ Conference’s Justice and Peace Commission harshly condemning his economic policies and his government’s high level of “social insensitivity.”

The document, which came to light on March 21, is the broadest critique from the Argentine Church since Milei took office in December of 2023.

Unlike previous remarks by Church members, which mainly focused on the cuts made by the new president in social aid programs, the Commission’s letter included a wide analysis of the current economic policies and their effects on different segments of the population.

Yeah so shouldn’t it be obvious by now that Milei is a bad guy? And considering who he hangs out with – people like Trump and Erdogan, those should be signs that nothing is going to go as planned. But you know, we picked a great time to visit Argentina because this comes on the day that the 1976 coup happened. I mean come on, Argentina is no strangers to fascism and authoritarianism. So how could a country elect a guy who’s the opposite of freedom? It just boggles the mind. It’s definitely nothing to screw with. We’re hoping that Argentina can follow Brazil and give Milei the heave ho that he so greatly deserves when his term is up!

People flock to Buenos Aires – and other cities across Argentina – on this date each year for an annual march to commemorate the victims of the country’s last military dictatorship. Between 1976 and 1983, an estimated 30,000 people were killed, imprisoned, tortured or forcibly disappeared in a state-led campaign that still haunts the country.

But this year the march felt a little different. Activists showed their palpable outrage at President Javier Milei’s administration for seeking to downplay the brutal legacy of the dictatorship.

And on March 21, Milei’s defence minister, Luis Petri, reportedly met with the wives of military officers convicted of crimes against humanity. The meeting occurred amid rumours of pardons for human rights abuses that had been committed under the dictatorship.

I think it’s time we need to start asking this question – is Donald Trump *EVER* going to get his ass handed to him as he very much deserves? Hey Jack Smith, where the hell are you? But our hopes were very quickly squashed when we learned that it seems like Trump lives on his own plane of existence complete with his own system of justice. Shit, we saw that when he was congratulating himself for winning his own trophies – at his own rigged golf tournaments. Wait – he *ALLEGEDLY* rigged them. Don’t you dare get us wrong, now! But watching the timeline of events fold on this subject has been the stuff of pure, unfiltered grade A certified insanity. So what does all of this bode for the 2024 election? Well none of it is good in any way. But one thing we do know – Trump’s ass is broke!

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump owes the state of New York $454 million for being a con man who lied about the value of his assets for years. This week he claimed he can’t pay up because no one will put up a bond to cover his fraudulent orange posterior while he tries to appeal.

If he doesn’t pony up or find another legal strategy by Monday, New York AG Letitia James has pledged to seize his assets, possibly including the Doral Golf Club, 40 Wall Street, and/or Trump Tower.

It's fun to watch Trump turn his pockets inside out and go crawling about on his belly looking for loose nickels. And the entertainment is just getting started. Trump’s money problems are deep, multifaceted, and unlikely to go away before the election. President Biden’s weak polling doesn’t guarantee a Trump win, and Trump’s poor fundraising doesn’t ensure Democratic victory. The lack of cash does, though, put Republicans at a disadvantage in the presidential race and at even more of a disadvantage downballot.

A New York appeals court has given Donald Trump 10 more days to post his bond as he appeals the civil fraud judgment against him and cut the amount necessary to $175 million

It’s a major lifeline for the former president, who, along with his adult sons and his company, were fined more than $464 million, including interest, after Judge Arthur Engoron found Trump and his co-defendants fraudulently inflated the value of his assets.

The ruling staves off the prospect, for now, of New York Attorney General Letitia James seeking to seize the former president’s property to enforce the judgment against him. Trump had been struggling to come up with the means to post a bond of more than $500 million, the total that he would have needed before Monday’s appellate decision.

Trump said on Truth Social on Monday that he would “abide by the decision and post either a bond, equivalent securities, or cash” to meet the terms of the judgment. His attorneys said last week he was struggling to come up with bond to cover the full amount, noting that banks would not approve bond of more than $100 million.

Former President Donald Trump lashed out at the judge overseeing his Manhattan criminal hush-money case and his daughter after being hit with a gag order on Tuesday.

Trump on Wednesday accused Judge Juan Merchan of issuing an “illegal, un-American, unConstitutional [sic]” gag order barring him from discussing jurors and potential witnesses in the case as well as court staff, the district attorney’s staff, and their families.

“This Judge, by issuing a vicious “Gag Order,” is wrongfully attempting to deprive me of my First Amendment Right to speak out against the Weaponization of Law Enforcement,” Trump wrote, claiming he has “done nothing wrong.”

Trump, who lashed at Merchan’s daughter on Tuesday, again targeted her in his posts Wednesday morning, claiming she “represents Crooked Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, and other Radical Liberals” and “has just posted a picture of me behind bars, her obvious goal, and makes it completely impossible for me to get a fair trial.”

Dude, he seriously didn’t last even 24 hours! How the hell are you going to expect him to keep his mouth shut on anything? Former President Donald Trump will be required to attend his upcoming trial in person in New York City, limiting his ability to travel outside of the state for several weeks amid his presidential campaign.

Trump is set to face trial for charges of allegedly falsifying business documents in connection to an alleged hush money payment to adult film actor Stormy Daniels. Judge Juan Merchan this week scheduled the trial to begin on April 15, 2024, setting the stage for Trump's first criminal trial ahead of the presidential election in November.

We don’t usually cover a lot of sports related topics on this program, but when this story broke last week, it practically broke the internet, so we have to talk about it. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this program, we hail from Southern California. Our home office is in Santa Ana, CA, not too far from our home venue, the Observatory OC, which has been our gracious hosts and permanent home since COVID restrictions were lifted in 2022. Which would make our closest MLB team the Los Angeles Angels, and they’ve had their share of problems over the years. And last year, they traded baseball’s golden boy Shohei Ohtani to the Los Angeles Dodgers for the paltry sum of $700 million. But this latest story threw the entire baseball world for a loop. It involves Ohtani’s longtime translator Ippei Mizuhra, who stole and gambled away nearly $5 million. Between this and Bruno Mars, you gotta wonder when people know when to hold them and when to fold them! But gambling scandals are nothing new in the MLB, but this is baseball’s first billion dollar player to be held accountable!

Only a week has passed since the Los Angeles Dodgers abruptly fired Ippei Mizuhara, the interpreter and constant companion of their new $700 million slugger, Shohei Ohtani.

But the biggest story of baseball’s spring is still murky — and shocking — as the regular season begins in earnest Thursday.

The scandal encompasses gambling, alleged theft, extensive deceit and the breakup of an enduring partnership between the majors’ biggest star and his right-hand man. Investigations are underway by the IRS and Major League Baseball, and Ohtani publicly laid out a version of events Monday that placed the responsibility entirely on Mizuhara.

Now those of you in the audience who are long time baseball fans might be asking “But what about Pete Rose?”. Well.. we got ya covered! Because the guy who originally drew attention to the world of professional gambling in sports has got some thoughts. But Ohtani isn’t the only player in baseball who’s up to their ass in a gambling scandal. Apparently it’s a growing problem in the MLB, especially in the wake of online gambling and sites like Draft Kings and Fan Duel, which are hugely popular apps that can let you bet on sports via microtransactions.

Two lawmakers who are pushing bills aimed at reining in the sports betting industry say there is a silver lining to the scandal that has ensnared the Japanese interpreter of Los Angeles Dodgers baseball phenom Shohei Ohtani: It will shine a spotlight on the plague of gambling addiction.

“This situation clearly demonstrates the impact and harm that gambling addiction can inflict,” said Rep. Paul Tonko, D-N.Y, who this month introduced the SAFE Bet Act to deal with what he has called a “public health crisis.”

Both Tonko and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., introduced their bills before the news broke that Ippei Mizuhara had allegedly stole $4.5 million from Ohtani to pay off bookies in Southern California who were being investigated by the U.S. government.

“The widespread legalization and promotion of sports gambling will only make this type of incident more common moving forward,” Tonko said in an emailed response to a question from NBC News. “We have an obligation to address the predatory practices of this industry and protect consumers, which precisely what my SAFE Bet Act aims to do.”

Now you might be asking – what about Shohei Ohtani’s brand? He’s one of the most popular players in baseball with a worldwide following. He’s got product deals in Japan and in the United State in the millions in addition to his contract with the Dodgers and his contract with his former team, the Los Angeles Angels. People have traveled across the ocean to see him in person and buy all of the souvenirs that they can! But in all seriousness, this has created a problem, I believe the technical term you’re looking for is “clusterfuck”. Well as we’ve learned from past mega contracts with giant baseball superstars, there’s no such thing as a guaranteed title. So of course, Ohtani has to have his best interests looking out for him ahead of opening day.

His towering 150-foot visage on the side of the Miyako Hotel is only the latest, most obvious sign of the mania — and huge financial prospects — surrounding the Dodgers’ two-way superstar.

Soon, crowds of tourists, from around the region and as far away as Japan, are expected to descend on Little Tokyo, and the small businesses there are ready. There will be special Ohtani-related deals at 31-year-old restaurant Mr. Ramen. Udon restaurant Marugame Monzo already has a window display with stuffed Totoros wearing Dodgers batting helmets and jerseys, an Ohtani pennant proudly centered.

Where Ohtani goes, the money follows. That’s why you could almost hear a collective sigh of relief when Ohtani categorically denied this week, ahead of the Dodgers’ home opener Thursday, that he never bet on sports, or anything else, for that matter.

And it wasn’t just relief from true-blue Dodger fans who are looking to Ohtani to bring World Series glory to the team they love. Many businesses, corporate sponsors and private investors, not to mention Major League Baseball and the city of Los Angeles, all have a big stake in Ohtani’s ongoing success. Never mind baseball, an unblemished Ohtani represents a sky full of financial rainbows.

Now you might be asking – how does Ohtani’s former team, the Los Angeles Angels fit into this clusterfuck of a situation? Well, I answer you – it’s complicated! Yes, we all know that the Angels have had their fair share of problems, mostly thanks to its’ long time money grubbing owner Arte Moreno, the only owner in MLB to literally kill one of his own players through gross negligence (see: Idiots #12-6 ). But after hearing his side of the story, we can safely say that gambling isn’t one of those problems! So no matter which team you root for, bring on opening day!

Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani went hitless for a second straight game as the Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Los Angeles Angels 6-0 on Monday at Dodger Stadium.

Playing in the team’s second Freeway Series exhibition game since returning from South Korea, Ohtani went 0-for-2, grounding out twice and drawing a walk in the loss against his former club.

Before the game, the two-time MVP spoke publicly for the first time since gambling and theft allegations against his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, came to light last week.

The 29-year-old Ohtani adamantly denied betting on any sport or paying a bookie and placed the blame for the improprieties solely on his former interpreter, who he alleged was stealing money from his account.

For those of you who don’t know, this is an account that’s famous for the doxing and harassment of teachers, principals, and anyone who might actually have empathy for anyone who’s LGBT. This week, the most dangerous account on Twitter/Shitter is back at it again. This week, taking the fight on “wokeness” (whatever that is) to Planet Fitness. Why? Because they dared to assist a trans person in the locker room. Yes, this is a terrible tale of how something that sounds innocent can spark the fury and ire of social media trolls worldwide.

In Fairbanks, Alaska, life coach Patricia Silva found herself at the center of controversy after Planet Fitness revoked her gym membership after she allegedly took an unsolicited photo of someone — whom she claimed to be a transgender woman — shaving their face in the women's locker room.

The news of Silva's canceled membership quickly went viral on social media, with posts on X (formerly Twitter) from as far afield as Germany, and with many calling for a boycott of the fitness chain while also claiming that, because of the controversy, Planet Fitness lost $400 million of its market value in five days.

The incident occurred when Silva reportedly witnessed someone she believed to be male in the women's locker room and took a photo of the person, who was fully dressed, and expressed concern over the presence of someone she perceived as male in a space designated for females and while children were present.

Silva took to her Facebook page on March 11, 2024, to post a video about the incident that took place earlier that day, which she appeared to film in the parking lot of her gym in Fairbanks:

That same day, the conservative X account Libs of TikTok shared Silva's Facebook clip, along with the purported photo of the person in the women's locker room. The Libs of TikTok repost quickly went viral, amassing nearly 10 million views at the time of this writing.

Planet Fitness, on its website, says that it champions diversity and provides an environment "where everyone feels accepted, respected and like they belong."

The website lists the fitness company's non-discrimination policy regarding gender identity and locker room accommodations, which states in part: "Members and team members will be treated according to their self-reported gender identity." The policy also addresses locker room usage and says that staff and gym members "may use Planet Fitness locker room facilities and programs based on their self-reported gender identity; these facilities include bathrooms, showers, and all other facilities separated by sex."

The policy notes that if "a serious concern or significant doubt" about a person's transgender or nonbinary identity arises, Planet Fitness employees are encouraged to address their concerns with the club member. If that fails to resolve the concerns, staff may request "external evidence of the member's asserted gender identity." If a gym member "improperly asserts a gender identity," they may be asked to leave and their membership may be revoked, according to the fitness chain's policy.

Yes, I’m pretty sure that if you look up the word “tool” in the dictionary, you’d see Chaya’s picture right there. Yeah, what a truly sad, miserable existence you must have to make doxing and threatening people your profession. Growing concerns and controversy surrounding Planet Fitness’s inclusive policies have sparked significant debate and calls for boycotts, reminiscent of the backlash against Bud Light for its marketing decisions.

The gym’s policy, which allows members to use the locker room that corresponds with their gender identity, has been at the center of this contention. A standing Planet Fitness policy states, "If it is confirmed that a member is acting in bad faith and improperly asserts a gender identity, they may be asked to leave and their membership may be terminated."

Most recently, Patricia Silva encountered a "man in women's locker room shaving" at a Planet Fitness location in Alaska with underage girls present during the interaction. After posting the video online and complaining to Planet Fitness, her membership was canceled.

The issue has been going on since at least 2015 when Planet Fitness revoked the membership of Yvette Cormier after she voiced concerns upon encountering a biological man identifying as a transgender woman at a Michigan location. This resulted in a lawsuit against Planet Fitness. Cormier's complaint ultimately succeeded with the Appeals Court for the State of Michigan finding that Planet Fitness violated the Consumer Protection Act and its contract with Cormier because her membership promised access to a private women’s locker room, which was not provided.

Right-wingers online are calling for a boycott of the gym franchise Planet Fitness over its policy that permits members to use the locker room that best aligns with “their sincere, self-reported gender identity.”

The backlash started after gymgoer Patricia Silva posted a photo from a Planet Fitness locker room in Alaska, explaining in the caption that she “Walked in the bathroom, and there stands a MAN shaving.”
Silva was later informed that her membership had been canceled. Planet Fitness said in a statement the decision was made due to her violating the gym’s policy that prohibits taking photos of individuals in the locker room.

The reports of harrowing and sometimes tragic incidents aboard airplanes accelerated this year, leading many to wonder if it’s still safe to fly.

A door plug blew out on an Alaska Airlines flight leaving a gaping hole in the Boeing 737 Max fuselage. Passengers’ phones and clothing were ripped from their bodies and sent hurtling out into the night as oxygen masks dropped and the plane made its way to the ground, fortunately without any serious injuries.

Another Boeing jet plunged so severely that passengers were thrown onto the ceiling of the cabin, leaving dozens so injured they need to be hospitalized upon landing.

A passenger plane collided with a military plane at a Tokyo airport, killing five members of the Japanese Coast Guard who were responding to an earthquake.

And more minor incidents happened, like when a 200-pound wheel fell off a plane on takeoff, crushing parked vehicles on the ground. Another plane’s engine caught fire. A jet arrived at an airport only to have a missing panel discovered. These incidents all gained attention worthy of a Kardashian on social media.

A six-week audit by the Federal Aviation Administration of Boeing’s production of the 737 Max jet found dozens of problems throughout the manufacturing process at the plane maker and one of its key suppliers, according to a slide presentation reviewed by The New York Times.

The air-safety regulator initiated the examination after a door panel blew off a 737 Max 9 during an Alaska Airlines flight in early January. Last week, the agency announced that the audit had found “multiple instances” in which Boeing and the supplier, Spirit AeroSystems, failed to comply with quality-control requirements, though it did not provide specifics about the findings.

The presentation reviewed by The Times, though highly technical, offers a more detailed picture of what the audit turned up. Since the Alaska Airlines episode, Boeing has come under intense scrutiny over its quality-control practices, and the findings add to the body of evidence about manufacturing lapses at the company.

Australian low-cost carrier Virgin Australia is said to be considering “alternative options” for its outstanding order of 25 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft. Reports have emerged in the Australian media that the carrier is frustrated with ongoing delays with the MAX 10 program at Boeing, which has been hit by a perfect storm of issues following the blow-out of an emergency exit on an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 in January 2024.

Publications including the Australian Financial Journal have reported that the airline is currently assessing plans to switch at least part of its order for MAX 10s and opt for the smaller 737 MAX 8 model instead. The MAX 10 variant seats 205 passengers while the MAX 8 accommodates 180. However, the smaller variant boasts a greater range, making it more versatile within the Virgin Australia fleet and potentially useful in opening up more route deployment possibilities.

The carrier originally ordered 13 737 MAX 8s, the bulk of which were supposed to arrive by the end of 2024 with another four already in operation with the company. However, given the issues faced by Boeing and its production of the MAX family of aircraft (including supply chain issues, safety audits, and certification delays), it is now expected that only a further four MAX 8s will be delivered this year and the other six will arrive in 2025, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Michelle Buress, a mom of two, emailed me from the runway at Newark Airport, where she sat on a Boeing Airbus. Her 9 a.m. flight had been delayed until noon because of a mechanical issue, and was now delayed a second time because of another mechanical issue, which the pilot said was “different but related to” the first one. It was 1:30 p.m. As her 8-year-old twin boys melted down next to her, she gave me permission to quote her posthumously and instructions on where her dog, Rosie, should be rehomed. At 3:19 p.m. she sent an update: The plane had been grounded, they were reclaiming their luggage, and moving to a different terminal to catch the 5:30 p.m. United flight to Phoenix … on a Boeing 737. Yes, of course we’re alarmed at the increasing merging of church and state, and we really don’t want Fox News to become state run television under an authoritarian regime. But we should be particularly alarmed that they’re promoting this pay to pray app while also having some of the biggest names in right wing politics on their programs. Yes, literally nothing good can come of this no matter how you try to justify it!

Twice during the Superbowl broadcast, there were commercials promoting Jesus, and promoting combining Jesus, home, patriotism and prayer.

It was a little odd, but, hey, went the reaction. If someone’s got several million dollars to splurge on a message of forgiveness, what’s the harm? Of course there were voices who suggested that Jesus likely would have used such money to feed people rather than to call a football crowd otherwise bending elbows to bend a knee instead.

Indeed, it was part of a larger marketing push of Christian thought by a Bible app called Hallow and involving actors Mark Wahlberg and Jonathan Roumie, who actually played a streaming series Jesus. A second Superbowl ad for Jesus, featuring the washing of humble feet, was mounted by a group headed by David Green of Hobby Lobby, a recreational business with Christian ideals.

Hallow also had an ad in the middle of one of the Republican presidential debates in the fall to “help folks take a pause, and through prayer, invite Jesus into our hearts, explained Alex Jones, creator of the Hallow app — not the Info Wars conspiracy theorist.

Prayer app Hallow has just topped Apple’s app chart.

“#1 in the App Store!! Glory Be – He is #1,” the prayer app posted on Instagram. “We are overjoyed with how powerful Day 1 of Lent Pray40 was. Not only did over 1 million people join the challenge and start a transformational prayer journey yesterday, Hallow also became the first religious app to ever reach the top of the App Store Charts!”

The company also included a slide that compared their number of employees to the other Top Three apps — Temu and Threads have thousands of workers, while Hallow has just 85.

“We are so grateful for the dedication of all our team members at Hallow to help people all over the world pray,” the post concluded.

Much of this success can be attributed to Hallow’s recent Super Bowl commercial.

If you missed it, the 30-second ad consisted of Wahlberg saying a prayer of thanks to God, over shots of people praying. At one point, a man with a beard and long hair receives a cross of ashes on his forehead—the form by which Catholics mark Ash Wednesday, which is this upcoming Wednesday and starts the season of Lent. The ad ends with Wahlberg asking viewers to “join us in prayer this Lent.”

Given that 30-second ads are running for 7 million bucks, it may seem surprising that a prayer app was able to afford such a major spot. (And that’s not counting Wahlberg’s fees, or that of his co-star in the ad, Jonathan Roumie, who’s best known for playing Jesus in The Chosen.) We could have expected the Jesus-promoting “He Gets Us” ads, which ran last year and have major funding, to pop up again. But an app for prayer?

It turns out that Hallow, a Christian prayer app modeled after meditation apps such as Calm and Headspace, has big funding itself. Hallow raised millions from funders like Peter Thiel and J.D. Vance on its promise to seize the religious-wellness market.

This week’s This Fucking Guy is the current Lieutenant Governor of the state of North Carolina and the GOP nominee for the NC governor’s race – Mark Robinson! This guy is so extreme that he’s the most extreme candidate that the GOP has had in decades, if ever. And he’s a surefire sign of the direction that party is heading in – which is full blown authoritarianism / Nazism. That’s something that, as history has shown time and time again, is something that you don’t want to fuck with. In fact, Mr. Robinson is probably the closest thing that the GOP has to a literal Nazi among their ranks. You don’t think I’m kidding when I say that this fucking guy is a literal Nazi? He’s on record actively denying that the Holocaust happened! Yes, the systematic murder of millions of Jewish people in Germany during the 1940s is all just a big hoax! Ha ha ha… fuck you.

Mark Robinson, who easily won North Carolina’s Republican gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, has the misfortune of having spent years on Facebook without thinking about his future political career. The current lieutenant governor of the state—and the first Black person to hold the position—was a furniture manufacturer who was launched into politics in 2018, after he gave a viral pro-gun speech at a City Council meeting in the wake of the Parkland school shooting. Two years later, he was elected to his current office. He will face Democrat Josh Stein, the state’s attorney general, in the general election in November. The race is expected to be extremely close.

He has not, in the time since his profile rose, worked to purge his social media of controversial content. Nor has he played things safe when speaking at churches and other public events in recorded sermons and speeches. So it doesn’t take a lot of probing to figure out how Robinson really feels about certain hot-button issues.

Robinson, who is also into conspiracy theories, has voiced enough offensive comments for a full accounting to be too unwieldy. But even a sampling of his views, like the one below—not a comprehensive list—showcases precisely what kind of candidate North Carolina Republicans just selected to be their standard-bearer this November.

The Republican Party under Donald Trump has habitually elevated extreme right-wing candidates who can’t find enough support outside of hardcore partisans to win elections. But Mark Robinson, who won the GOP nomination for governor of North Carolina Tuesday night, is a special case even by the modern GOP’s standards.

Robinson, North Carolina’s current lieutenant governor, has hurled hateful remarks at everyone from Michelle Obama to the survivors of the Parkland school shooting. He’s called the LGBTQ community “filth.” He threatened to use his AR-15 against the government if it “gets too big for its britches,” and he wants to outlaw all abortions as well as return to a time when women couldn’t vote. He’s also ridiculed the Me Too movement, women generally, and climate change.

It seems Robinson is willing to entertain all manner of conspiracy theories, too. He’s a Holocaust denier and has a history of antisemitic remarks. He’s suggested that the 1969 moon landing might have been fake, that 9/11 was an “inside job,” that the music industry is run by Satan, and that billionaire Democratic donor George Soros orchestrated the Boko Haram kidnappings of school girls in 2014.

Republicans in North Carolina have selected Mark Robinson as their nominee in the swing state’s 2024 gubernatorial race. Robinson — the state’s first Black lieutenant governor, who will now face Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein in the general election — has a richer history of bigoted commentary than any major-party political candidate in recent memory. He has leveled truly vile attacks against Muslims, Jews, women, and the LGBTQ community, while pushing a torrent of conspiracy theories about everything from Covid-19 to the 2020 election. He also loves Donald Trump.

Trump loves him back, naturally. The former president last summer said he would endorse his run for governor, and made it official ahead of the primary earlier this month, calling Robinson “Martin Luther King on steroids” during a rally in North Carolina. “I told that to Mark,” Trump recalled. “I said, ‘I think you’re better than Martin Luther King. I think you are Martin Luther King times two.’”

Robinson, a former furniture manufacturer who got into politics by defending gun rights after the 2018 Parkland High School shooting, defeated his closest Republican primary challenger by over 45 percentage points. The day after he won the nomination, video surfaced of Robinson pining for a return to “the America where women couldn’t vote.” The video went viral, but it’s only one of countless reprehensible comments he’s made in recent years.

Of course that’s what happens when you spend all of your time lurking around the dark corners of the internet. Yes, the craziest person ever elected to Congress is… well… not onto something.

This is not a JK Rowling novel but the Georgia congressperson's latest Space Laser escapade.

Famous for inventing Jewish Space Lasers to blame California's wildfires on something (something other than President Trump's claim that California forests needed to be swept up,) the US Congressperson will now play host to two speakers well-known to stand against women's rights to healthcare. The hearing, slated for March 19 at 2 p.m., will include testimony from David Daleiden and Terrisa Bukovinac, according to the announcement. The hearing will be also be live-streamed.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Sunday got called out for twisting the already disputed claim of anti-abortion activists who said they were given 115 aborted fetuses off a medical waste truck ― and saved five of them for evidence.

“In March 2022, pro-life activists tragically discovered the remains of 115 aborted babies being discarded from the Planned Parenthood in Washington, D.C.,” Greene wrote. “Five of these babies were second and third-trimester premature infants who appeared to have been born alive and then murdered. Yeah so despite what you may have heard… your odds of this happening about as slim as if you had won the lottery or got struck by lightning. So what is this based on, you might ask? Well I answer you – the actual story is based on a 2019 investigation of the University Of Pittsburgh by the FBI, and well the investigation… turned up absolutely nothing. But that doesn’t mean that it didn’t spark the furor and imaginations of internet conspiracy theorists worldwide. And while Greene’s claims are mostly based on wild accusations, it was enough that it prompted the Democrats to do some actual fact checking.

While Greene does not expound on the details of the hearing, it might be related to unfounded accusations that organizations such as Planned Parenthood traffic fetal tissue for profit.

Such claims raised enough concerns among House Democrats that they created a special web page and YouTube video to fact check misinformation.

Greene's decision to pose smiling for this hearing announcement baffled those who viewed it on social media.

"I'm no marketing genius," replied comedian Jay Black, "but it seems to me that an investigation into something as dark as 'black market baby organ harvesting' shouldn't be advertised with a graphic that has the same gravitas as a seminar on at-home beauty solutions for the budget-minded."

Folks are calling out anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for spreading unhinged lies about abortion providers performing experiments on babies after birth.

“Abortion providers are literally ripping the hearts, kidneys, and brain tissue out of babies born alive and without anesthesia to perform sick experiments on them,” Greene wrote on X Sunday afternoon, perpetuating a false conspiracy theory.

Greene’s post included information purportedly from anti-abortion and anti-vax activist Dr. Theresa Deisher, who claimed – according to a post from the right-wing account Wall Street Apes – that babies are being born alive and having their organs harvested for research while their hearts are still beating.

The accusations could stem from a debunked claim that Planned Parenthood was selling fetal tissue for profit in violation of federal law after anti-abortion activists tried and failed to entrap the organization in 2015. The man behind the attempted entrapment – David Daleiden – is set to speak at Greene’s upcoming hearing.

But folks on X had no time for Greene’s nonsense. One popular progressive account eviscerated Greene for creating a “cocktail of falsehoods and fearmongering designed to distort public perception.”

Police in Colorado say they caught a burglar trying to get away in an Uber last week.

According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, officers responded last Thursday night to a report of a burglary at Blue Sky Plumbing.

A 911 caller reported seeing a hole in the fence and said they had security footage of a man stealing tools.

Arriving officers said they spoke to an Uber driver who they saw waiting in the area.

The driver told them he was called to pick up a man named Jose who was walking toward the car.

Officers stopped and questioned the man before he got into the Uber.

Police said he provided the officers with a fake name, but they were able to find a backpack on him with more than $8,600 worth of Milwaukee-brand tools inside.

Glendale police arrested a person trapped inside a port-a-potty at Lincoln Park Golf Course, after they ran from a police chase Wednesday.

Department of Transportation cameras captured a stolen and speeding SUV slamming into multiple cars on North Port Washington Road. The car careens into the grass, blows through traffic barrels and hits the I-43 guard rail. The car was stolen from Plymouth, Minnesota, according to Glendale police.

Video shows four people come out from inside the car and flee the scene. Witnesses say two of them crossed the freeway before running into the nearby Lincoln Park Golf Course.

"We were on the third hole, and we heard a crash," golfer Ilissa Boland said.

A New York man who ran a "Breaking Bad"-style drug lab inadvertently turned himself in when he called police to report a burglary, prosecutors said.

pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and other charges for running an illicit drug lab in Long Island, according to a news release from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

When Suffolk County police arrived, they found broken glass at the entrance to the lab and later discovered what appeared to be "a clandestine laboratory" that made methamphetamine and dimethyltryptamine, a hallucinogenic substance, as well as other substances, prosecutors said in the release.

A Florida man was charged after being accused of stealing an alligator from a golf course and attempting to throw the reptile on a roof earlier this week, telling officers he was "teaching it a lesson."

The man, who police identified in a Facebook post on the incident as William "Bubba" Hodge, was arrested and faces five charges including animal cruelty, burglary, and possession/injury of an alligator, according to the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety.

Officers from the department said they witnessed Hodge carrying the alligator down a state road. The 32-year-old was arrested after he was seen grabbing the alligator by its tail, stepping on it twice and trying to throw it on the roof of a bar, according to a police report obtained by the Associated Press.

Officers said on Facebook that the alligator was "returned to the management of Congo River Golf from where Hodge claimed to have stolen it after a brief wrestling match."

Finally this week – this seems to be a recurring theme this week with robberies that have gone horribly wrong. But it just goes to show you that no amount of planning ahead of time can ensure that a robbery goes perfectly, as we have witnessed on this program time and time again! This one happened in Lee County where these guys decided to steal a perfectly good golf cart and well, didn’t take into account that golf cart happened to belong to the local police. And it had a tracking unit on it. Said tracking unit led the cops right to our would-be thieves! That’s a classic Florida Man story and a classic People Are Dumb story!

Three men are accused of stealing a golf cart from a Florida road, likely without realizing it belonged to the local sheriff’s office, deputies said.

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office golf cart was “deployed” on a road when it was left unattended, according to a Nov. 29 news release.

Deputies, who can see the location of the golf cart with regular GPS updates, saw the cart start to move on its own, according to the release.

The GPS from the golf cart started to send a signal back to the deputies as it moved, WBBH reported, and they tracked the cart to neighboring Hendry County.

There, deputies from both counties surrounded a covered trailer driven by three men and served a warrant to take a look inside, deputies said.

A South Dakota tribe is banning Gov. Kristi Noem from its reservation over her recent remarks about an "invasion" at the U.S.-Mexico border, in which she said she was considering sending razor wire and security personnel there.

The president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, Frank Star Comes Out, issued the decision about not allowing her on the Pine Ridge Reservation in a four-page response to the GOP governor's remarks about the southern border.

"Due to the safety of the Oyate, effective immediately, you are hereby Banished from the homelands of the Ogala Sioux Tribe!" he wrote in a letter Friday.

The tribe said in 2019 that Noem wasn't welcome on the land, the eighth-largest reservation in the country, because she supported the Keystone XL pipeline.

The Friday statement from the Oglala Sioux Tribe's president, who said he was an honorably discharged U.S. combat veteran, said Noem's "use of the term 'invasion' as a justification to send S.D. National Guard troops to Texas" is "misplaced."

Kristi Noem carried the American flag on horseback into a Sioux Falls arena full of fans. … It was the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup, advertised as “the richest rodeo in South Dakota history,” with $1 million in prize money. Noem handed out awards, posed for photos with the winners, and shared the images with thousands of followers on her social media accounts.

Several months earlier, Noem had decided to use tax dollars from South Dakota employers to help pay for the event. … In June, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development awarded a three-year contract worth up to $2.5 million to rodeo announcer Rorey Lemmel’s Dean Entertainment Group, to promote and conduct the annual event. The contract said Sioux Falls would contribute additional matching funds.

The state money is from a special fund under the exclusive control of the governor. It’s called the Future Fund. Legislators created it in 1987 at the behest of then-Gov. George Mickelson, “for purposes related to research and economic development for the state,” according to the brief, two-sentence text of the law.

Unlike other funds administered by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Future Fund expenses don’t have to go through a board of citizen appointees for vetting or approval. And while Noem has publicized some Future Fund awards, she hasn’t publicized others, such as the rodeo contract. That’s in contrast to awards from other economic development funds, which are routinely announced in news releases.

And a lot of it stems from continuing Fox News sponsored crises at the US – Mexican border. But this was one of the most alarming things that Gov. Abbott said regarding the border, and it’s shocking how evil it is. In fact, Texas makes our list simply because of this and we can’t fathom how anyone still votes for conservatives in this state. And yes, Fox News is largely responsible for this horror, and we wonder how they keep getting away with it!

During a radio interview last week, Gov. Greg Abbott said that Texas has used every tool to control the border short of ordering officers to shoot migrants crossing over illegally, once again drawing concerns about the potential impact of his rhetoric around immigration.

“The only thing that we're not doing is we're not shooting people who come across the border, because of course, the Biden administration would charge us with murder,” Abbott said during the Jan. 5 radio interview with Dana Loesch, a former editor at Breitbart News and spokesperson for the National Rifle Association.

His comment came after Loesch asked Abbott: “But for the people who don't live in border states, explain the hierarchy and the process. Like what can be done like right up to the line, where maybe they would come and say, ‘Governor, you're breaking the law, we got to arrest you for trying to enforce the law at the border.’ Like what is the maximum amount of pressure that you as governor can implement to protect the border?”

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! And damn right! By the way, we don’t have to point out time and time again how much guns are prevalent in Texas. Because holy crap does Texas love them some guns. And police. Remember last year’s Uvalde shooting? Yeah 400 police and nobody could do anything about it before it was too late. But you know what they can do something about? Porn. And it’s because of their weird obsession with kids and porn that we can’t put our fingers on. Yeah make that make sense. They’re quick to ban porn but they won’t do a damn thing about guns.

Ever since the world's top online filth purveyor Pornhub blocked all of Texas earlier this month, the libidinous desires of residents of the Lone Star State have been on full display via Google search trends.

Warren Brown, a deputy editor for San Antonio Express-News, found out that Texans have been using search terms like "how to watch porn in Texas?" and "Pornhub alternatives." Others have been looking up virtual private network services or VPNs in order to skirt around the ban by hiding their IP addresses.

In sum, Brown wrote, the "whole debacle has provided a reminder of is just how horny the Lone Star State is."

Brown specifically looked at search trends from the time the Pornhub ban went into effect, March 14, all the way to March 22.

Florida’s neighbor Georgia loves them some guns. In fact they can’t get enough of them. The Peach State is rife with guns and gun nuts, as evidenced by long time Fox News installed governor and coach Brian Kemp. The Peach State did shock the country when it flipped blue in 2020 and could potentially go even bluer in 2024. But the state that gave us the loudest and dumbest member of Congress in United States history, Marjorie Three Names is always full of surprises and one of the most politically volatile in the entire country. One thing we’ve seen a lot of in this country is the rise of “ghost guns” – guns that can be 3-D printed, use real ammo, and there’s no trace of them because there’s no serial number associated with them. They’re creeping up in Georgia.

Police are finding so many shell casings at some shooting scenes, they’re running out of evidence markers. Some departments are resorting to paper cups.

The rapid spread of inexpensive gun switches is turning ordinary semi-automatic pistols into full-auto machine guns. With a single pull of the trigger, a 15- or 30-round magazine can be emptied in under two seconds.

Machine guns have been heavily regulated for decades. Possession of even parts to convert a gun to full auto requires a license from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Without that ATF license, possession is a federal offense punishable by a decade in prison.

Yes, we do realize that a lot of you are stroking guns! So we’ll leave it up to the floor! But guns are so bad in Georgia that there’s everything from lawmakers pushing gun control and ammo taxes to proposing a “do not sell” list. But in fact, this is why elections matter and they matter at every single level! While most people want to do more to control guns, in the Peach State, they’re doing the exact opposite! And republicans in the state senate there are doing every thing they can to sell more guns, and just imagine how much worse things are going to get!

A majority of Georgia’s senators want to let people buy guns, ammunition and gun safes without paying sales tax for five days each fall, while some House members are considering a narrower tax break for only gun safety devices.

Republicans favor both approaches, partly in an election-year nod to gun owners, but Democrats favor only tax breaks for safety devices.

The Senate voted 30-22 on Tuesday to approve Senate Bill 344, sending it to the House for more debate. Sen. Jason Anavitarte, the Dallas Republican who is sponsoring the measure, says the tax break would promote hunting and the control of Georgia’s deer population. The tax holiday would last for five days in October just before the beginning of deer hunting season.

“We hope to expand the base of hunters and increase the tax revenue devoted to conservation,” Anavitarte said.

Texas moves on, Georgia goes home!
