March 28 (Reuters) - Israeli soldiers have been posting photos and videos of themselves toying with lingerie found in Palestinian homes, creating a dissonant visual record of the war in Gaza as a looming famine intensifies world scrutiny of Israel's offensive.
In one video, an Israeli soldier sits in an armchair in a room in Gaza grinning, with a gun in one hand and dangling white satin underwear from the other over the open mouth of a comrade lying on a sofa.
Elsewhere, another soldier sits atop a tank holding a female mannequin dressed in a black bra and helmet and says: "I found a beautiful wife, serious relationship in Gaza, great woman."
The two videos shot by Israeli soldiers are among dozens of posts in which troops in Gaza are shown displaying lingerie, mannequins, and in some cases both. The lingerie images have been viewed tens of thousands of times - nearly half a million in one case - after being reposted by Younis Tirawi, who describes himself as a Palestinian reporter.

And how does a couple of assholes playing with underwear that doesn't belong to them become an international crime?

(2,047 posts)Their farms, homes, livelihoods. Pushed off their land, displaced, dispossessed, rounded up, knocked down, lined up, cut off, penned in, show me your papers, bulldoze their house, shot in their mosques, treated like dirt day in day out for 75 years. Their crime? Resistance to a brutal & sudden occupation.
Let's laugh at them and dangle their dead mother's underwear. Haha.

(7,308 posts)where they began this whole mess by initiaing violence in 1947. They could of have had a two-state solution from the beginning. But that wasn't good enough. They wanted a continuation of Ottoman dominance where only Muslims havd teh franchise and Jews and Christians would be tolerated... if they paid the right taxes and were satisfied to live as subjects of an Islamic state.

(54,013 posts)This obsessive finger pointing in order to evade the moral responsibility of the massive indiscriminate slaughter of Gazan families is as appalling as weasely logic of Hamas rationalizing their acts of terror against essentially random civilian targets.
I don't see how it's "supporting Israel" when you help lower their moral standing to the level of Hamas.

And 80 year ago there were plenty of Palestinians who didn't try to kill the Jews. And today they live in Israel with full rights,.

No hyperbole or metaphors please. Give me the facts. If you can.

(2,047 posts)I think the general consus is that Palestine, or the State of Palestine, is a country in the Levant region of Western Asia.
After WWII-for reasons-- the Arab population was rousted off their ancestral land (where they heretofore lived peacefully with their Jewish neighbors), land that was stolen from them as they were
displaced & dispossessed & harrassed ever since. You can hear their children's cries now, if you could hear.
I'm sure you'll have a legal case to show that the bombing of homes & hospitals is necessary & just.
But I don't think the world is listening any more. I think the world is fed up.
Beastly Boy
(9,345 posts)And, for a good reason, it appears.
The State of Palestine, as proposed by the UN partition of Britain's mandatory Palestine after its mandate expired, never came into existence. The reason being, as I suspect you well know, as you do the "heretofore lived peacefully with their Jewish neighbors" to be a lie, that the Palestinians rejected the idea of having their on state along side their Jewish neighbors' state.
The land intended for the Palestinians was indeed stolen, but not by Israel: the West Bank was annexed by the State of Jordan, and Gaza was annexed by Egypt in 1950,shortly after the five Arab states of the Arab League invaded the State of Israel and lost the war in 1948. Israel occupied the West Bank previously stolen by Jordan and the Gaza strip previously stolen by Egypt in the 1967 war, as Jordanian and Egyptian territories, respectively. And the Palestinians who chose to remain in the State of Israel, currently numbered at 2 million, were not rousted off anywhere, and are enjoying full rights and responsibilities of Israeli citizenship.
You may also recall that Israel unilaterally disengaged from Gaza in 1985, and shortly thereafter there wass a civil war in Gaza between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, with Hamas taking over the Gaza strip.
These are well known and well documented facts, and disregarding them in favor of a made up narrative you are offering, full of hyperbole and metaphors as I expected all along, is pretty telling, if not unexpected.
The only thing I find mildly amusing in your post is the presumption to speak for the world. But that is not unexpected either.

No observer of current events can say the world sides with Israel in this gothic civilian slaughter.
Your personalizations aside.

(9,345 posts)Certain historical facts that you failed to recall were brought to your attention. You addressed none of them. None.
Neither did you address any of your tales that are inconsistent with historical facts. Instead, you rant against being rational and you find calendars and dates objectionable. Now that's something I never heard before! And this is your excuse for bailing out of even a mention of verifiable timelines and factual events?
Facts are always wrapped in calendar dates. This is what calendars and dates are for. Using calendars and dates is indeed part of being rational. I find it interesting that you appear to object to this.
And if you have anything against personalizations, quit speaking for the whole world. I don't want to get into lengthy explanations of what a projection is.

(2,047 posts)Killing children by the thousands is not self defense. Starving them to death is not devilishly clever. Ethnic cleansing is a losing argument if ever there was one. (9,345 posts)Take a look at the thread and count the subjects in the various posts that you deflected from. How difficult is it to stay on subject?
This is pathetic. If you have any favorite issues you want to hammer, can't you start your own frigging thread instead of barging into and disrupting discussions on other issues? Just admit to the fallacy of the narrative you are trying to peddle (you don't even have to address the origins of this fake narrative) and your ignorance of the causes and history of Israel/Palestine conflict and move on.
Jeez...

(2,047 posts)You keep deflecting from the mass slaughter & purposeful starvation to parse, what exactly, debate minutiae? The subject from the start is the IDF squatting in a damaged home, mocking a murdered or displaced Palestinian woman, to be exact. A fitting symbol of the brutal Occupation. You want to keep the discussion on track. Then stop deflecting with the supercilious paper-grading.

Videos of them riding little kids bikes and horrible videos of dragging & hurting kids from the West Bank - seems like they think toddlers & little kids are fair game. So many videos of little kids trying to save their siblings as Israeli soldiers are dragging screaming kids away - to who knows where. One 2 yr old toddler was throwing stones so they found his father & took them both away.

(9,345 posts)a group of armed Hamas terrorists abducting a woman in the context of the accusations (which are, BTW, being investigated by IDF) leveled in the story, is obscene to the extreme.
Here is an excerpt from Article 27 of the Fourth Geneva Convention that the so-called "experts" referred to in the video claim to have been breached by the IDF soldiers:
respect for their persons, their honour, their family rights, their
religious convictions and practices, and their manners and customs.
They shall at all times be humanely treated, and shall be protected
especially against all acts of violence or threats thereof and against
insults and public curiosity.
Women shall be especially protected against any attack on their
honour, in particular against rape, enforced prostitution, or any
form of indecent assault.
It takes a special kind of determined idiocy to invoke this Article against Israeli soldiers shown with inanimate objects , while the same Article is not being invoked against armed terrorists being shown abducting a real woman.
WTF is wrong with those "journalists"?

(1,900 posts)needs to issue some stricter guidelines on comportment. This is not OK. Whether we like it or not, wars are fought in the domain of public relations as well as on the front lines. Actions described in the OP are simply stupid-as-fuck and are evidence of substandard training. I hate how everything is a G-damn performance nowadays.
...and NO, the comparison between actual sexual abuse and posturing shown in the videos is not salient. These soldiers are
agents of a democratic state - not some bunch of flakes with suicide vests. IOW, the fucking standards to be met are higher.

In one photo, a burned body appears to project anguish. In another, a woman lies naked from the waist down, her underwear hanging from her leg. In interviews, first responders haltingly describe finding naked female corpses tied to beds and survivors recount witnessing a gang rape at the music festival.
All of this is part of a mounting body of evidence of the gender-based crimes carried out by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 ...

(550 posts)Souvenirs of their heroism?
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.
