Former president Donald Trump is expected to enlist Paul Manafort, the former campaign manager he pardoned, as a campaign adviser later this year, according to four people familiar with the talks.
Manafort worked for Trump in 2016 before being ousted and later convicted of tax and bank fraud felonies as part of Robert S. Mueller IIIs investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. He served time in prison before receiving a pardon in the final days of Trumps time in office.
The hiring of Manafort would likely revive discussion of Russias involvement in the 2016 election, which Mueller concluded was sweeping and systemic. Mueller also found that Manafort shared internal Trump campaign polling data with a longtime associate who the FBI assessed had ties to Russian intelligence.
A bipartisan Senate committee that investigated Russian interference in the 2016 election concluded that Manaforts receptivity to Russian outreach was a grave counterintelligence threat that had made the 2016 campaign susceptible to malign Russian influence.

(81,759 posts)Trump says hell bring back Michael Flynn if he wins in 2024: Hes some man

Former President Trump has said hell bring back his former national security adviser Michael Flynn if he wins another four years in the White House in 2024.
I will say, General Flynn, hes some general. Hes some man. He took abuse like nobody could have handled, and he came out bigger, better, stronger than ever before, Trump said via phone to the ReAwaken America rally at Trump National Doral Miami, according to a Rolling Stone report.
Hes a leader, and you just stay wealthy and healthy and well, and everything. I want you to have great lives and, General, you just have to stay healthy because were bringing you back. Were gonna bring you back, the former president said.
Flynn, whom Trump fired early in his administration, pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FBI about speaking with the Russian ambassador, though he later withdrew the plea.

I have a plan to "greatly benefit the Putin government."

That turned out well for Putin, Russia, and the planet's oligarchs. For the United States of America, not so much.
