That same day, my daughter told me that the motel next to the Bob Evans where I ate lunch had reported a person who stayed there tested positive for Covid. The person later died. Covid ended up killing at least 21 people I knew or were friends, relatives of people I know.

I remember being in Vegas at the center bar at the Park MGM and just watching news of one thing after another being shut down. It was so damn weird. The Strip was like a ghost town. Then I got back home and nothing was the same anymore.

This year? I went back to Vegas and had fun and got back home and everything was fine.

God I love you guys. You make me feel almost normal.

When I go amongst the real-time world and I speak up the Maga people come out of the woodwork and they get all red and puffy and start shouting at me in front of others and then these people look at me like I just opened a can of cockroaches.

Unlike my next-door neighbor who died — not from COVID, but rather from a broken hip. His family took him to a major hospital ER. Where he waited for nine hours, after which time they still had no beds available. And they sent him home. Five days later, he was in tremendous pain, so his family took him back to the same ER, and the still-overwhelmed staff sent him to a nursing home. Where he died two days later.
I blame both TFG and GOOBERnor moRon DeathSentence! They politicized an international pandemic which cost so many lives!

Donald's incompetence led to the deaths of over 800,000 Americans.
(Various numbers from various sources.)

He and Jared made money selling 18 tons of needed medical supplies to China.

Then he blamed China to slink away from his own incompetence and greed.

In a brief time? My guess is even more.

It's that early part of an exponential curve that determines its growth - growth fueled by allowing unquarantined, untested, exposed biz travelers merge back into the heartland. Genocidal growth determined by rationing first ventilators then vaccines to allies and denying them to blue states.

We lost 429,000 Americans to all causes in 4 years of WWII.
Trump's covid toll took about twice as many Americans as the grinding miseries of the European Theater and the Pacific Theater alllll combined. Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, D-Day, the Bulge, all pale in comparison with the mass murder committed by Trump. I wonder if Trump called medical workers who died of covid "suckers and losers".

No other developed country comes close in either total or per capita mortality from covid. There's only one orange reason.

Trump's place is history is one of the greatest mass murderers.

Forget J6. Prosecute for genocide.

The mass graves in New York. The symbols for the dead on the Capitol lawn.
A look at worldometer.com shows the abysmal performance of the US in managing covid.

Remember how AIDS was "the first virus with civil rights"? Well, by 2020 we had a God-given Constitutional right to transmit covid down as many new chains of infection as we pleased - it was our civil right! No Deep State was going to make us mask or take 5G mind-control vaccine shots. The blood of "patriots" flowed in rivers. Or at least their sputum.

What scares me silly is that the antimask antivax movement, encouraged and amplified by every Reich-wing leader (though Trump clings to "Sir, you gave us the vaccine!), shows their utter contempt for the value of the vote.

This wasn't a matter of losing a few dozen or hundred of their most rabid die-easy fans. We're talking hundreds of thousands of votes lost, lost and not balanced by leftish votes, because the death toll was extremely biased (even if they did their best to spread the death around). There is a truly major implication of this observable, proven fact.

The Reich wing isn't worried about the popular vote. At any level.

On State and local levels, honest poll workers are being driven out in droves by campaigns of harassment. Threats abound. People picketing in front of honest workers' houses. Many election workers quit to protect their families.

At the Federal level, we have Trump's ass-in-the-hole: his judiciary, up to and including his tame Extreme Court. He regularly gets good, even great, news from them. He and his Rethug cronies also know how to game that doddering Electoral College, like in 2016 when Zuckerberg illegally fed troves of data on millions of his users to Cambridge Analytica (smelling of Brexit), who micro-targeted Zuckbook ads in key locations to give us a College education.

Voting machines have been broached and software studied. Every vote must have a paper backup.

The vote is NOT secure. We'll have armed yahoos in tac drag everywhere that it's legal. And scary-looking people everywhere else, recording at the edge of legal restraints. We'll have massive challenges of valid voters just to gum the system.

The vote is NOT secure. We need nuclear numbers. We need to INSISTENTLY ask: what will motivate the third of Americans who think that it is not worth voting to come out and save us from the Fourth Reich?

We need to SECURE the vote. Advertise jail terms for intimidators and harassers. Record the intimidators. Volunteer as poll watchers. Challenge suspicious votes. I have some in mind; people with out-of-state tags who've lived here for years. At best, they're insurance frauds. At worst, they're goebbeling voter frauds. Joseph Goebbels said to accuse your enemies of what you're planning, and we've heard a lot of "rigging" and "fraud" accusations for years - a clear tell.

No hyperbole there about Fourth Reich. The signs are everywhere, it's no secret that fascism is thirsty and confident. They only have to win once; Project 2025 is waiting. We need to listen to that other third of USians and learn what will work to get them to vote against fascism, not just feel superior, call them names, and harangue them. This is too important. Listen to them. Find more allies.

because I take immune suppressing meds. I knew the scientists could figure out what was going on, but I did not have a lot of confidence in Trump to actually listen to them and do the right things to save lives. WAY better off now - I seem to be eligible for boosters every 6 months or so (go the latest w/my flu shot in Sept) - and when I actually did get Covid in 2022 I had no trouble getting my Paxlovid script filled. I'll stick with Joe.

How to understand money and economics? Liam Dann’s new book BBQ Economics makes it easy

"...I listen to the stories economists tell. I try to make sense of them and re-tell them in a way that helps people understand what’s going on in this crazy, brutal, capitalist world.

In recent years, economics has become a kind of soap opera that dominates our public debate.

We have celebrity economists, media stars who predict the future or confirm our suspicions about the world - or confound them...."

Things are better.

Of course, if you are a hard core MAGAt, who was POTUS then and who is now, overrides everything.

Got to wonder how many hard core MAGAts are left out there though, seeing how much evidence there is to show things are better.
