They are metaphorically gesticulating wildly because they know:
A. That their days are numbered
2. That the metaphorical (again) shit is gonna hit the fan.
You know, I listened to assholes like Jonathan Lemire for two years, talking about how there were going to be all these committees investigating Democrats, and all kinds of hell to pay, and he and others were wrong about that as well as being terrifyingly badly wrong about the Red Wave. There was nothing to uncover, the Rethug House members made absolute fools out of themselves, and they exposed their own sins mightily.
They are gonna lose some Senate races which they thought they had in the bag, and of course, Trump is gonna be decimated electorally and in the popular vote. This is entirely because a whole lotta folks are tired of taking their shit.
How do I know this? Because not only are voters fed up, but no candidate on their side, the Nazi side, is gonna have a dime to buy ads because the Creamsicle is in the process of stealing it all.
Fuck these people and their moralizing, their fake angers, their hate, their bigotry, their phoniness, and their whole holier-than-thou bullshit mentality. We need to flush the toilet and send the metaphorical logs and paper down to the metaphorical sewer where it all belongs.
Im out of metaphors for the moment.

(9,133 posts)Whats left isnt conservative or even republican (Yes, I used the lower-case R). The party has fallen into the hands of grifters, reactionary ideologues, and wanna-be dictators as sordid as those in Europe in the 1930s and Latin America afterwards.
I come from a family that used to be considered center-right. The Republican Party has since run so far to the right in the last thirty five plus years that there was no place for usunless we wanted to be useful idiots for the Republican Partys reactionary wing. So of course I left, as did hundreds of thousands of other politically-aware people with consciences.
The reactionaries took over and they in turn are being subsumed or thrown out by the MAGAs. Whats left is not only out of step with the rest of us, but fascist-minded and un-American. It should not continue in a representative republic.
I hope it dies.

But, she backed Romney in 2016 and voted for Trump's impeachment. Much to the surprise of everyone here. Dems, Pugs, and Indies. It is an "open" primary here with a "top two" runoff. She lost to a Super Maga endorsed by Don. It was close but for the first time in 12 years we have a Liberal Dem as our congress person. (1,340 posts)their thinking is along the lines of: a combination of voter suppression, intimidation, misinformation, manipulation and maybe even bullying/violence, and they can steal elections and coronate their shit-for-brains criminal leader. (2,239 posts)All voters in my county nearly lost our voice in the 2020 election because 2 of 3 County Supervisors were refusing to do their lawfully REQUIRED duty of certifying our election. Why? Well, noisy MAGAs were at a lot of the county meetings screaming the ballots were not safe, machines (all tested & certified) were not reliable, despite every audit of every polling place was in agreement with the machine totals for the whole. Their guy lost, they knew it. Kari Lake lost, and they knew it, but they were not going to allow the losses to happen, so they damned near disenfranchised over 47,000 voters, the (slim) majority of which were registered Republicans!
We have sniffed out the stink of out of state operatives trying to motivate some officials to just take the election in their own hands and fuck the will of the public.
Pay REALLY close attention to what GOP officials in your county are doing. There is a lot more going on than what your read online or hear on media. Voter suppression is gonna be a major weapon this year.
Most of us in AZ vote early by mail in ballot. I seriously worry that my signature on my ballot envelope will not match my signature from years ago when I first moved here and registered. I have sever arthritis and nerve impingement, so my signature never really looks the same twice. Our County Recorder is a GOP operative who encourage our 2 stupidvisors to insist on an illegal hand count in 2020. Do I think him capable of trying to disallow a lot of ballots from a lot of us geezers based on the reality that our signatures cannot possibly look exactly the same as when we registered? Why, yes, I do think he is that corrupt. And I have tried to get the word out that WE ALL must pay him personal visits in his office to prove our point re degradation in our ability to write the same as we age, should he rule our ballots ineligible based on variances in signatures We have to make sure our ballot was counted and challenge/confront ANY attempt to disqualify our ballots.
Suppression is a creature with many, many arms. Be aware.

(3,174 posts)My signature NEVER looks the same. And what about doctors? They're notorious for random signatures
DLCWIdem
(1,580 posts)Suppression is going to be a major strategy from the GOP this year. Marc Elias has already warned us that voter rolls are being purged in a couple of states. Georgia and Wisconsin for example. I think some of the DNC money needs to go to fight this. And Dems need to be hyper aware.

(2,239 posts)[link:https://vote.gov/|]
Our county Recorder is a MAGA jerk and I trust him as far as I can throw him. I check often, and definitely just before the registration deadline so I can make sure I have time to fix it if he purges me from voter rolls. If he dares do that, I will be in the county offices to re-register and tell him, face to face, to NEVER try such a stunt again.
Loud, surly, and I carry a cane.
