"We bring you all the latest news"...
Pictures flash of current news scenes and Trump's face.
No Joe Biden.
Trump gets 10 times more exposure for face recognition than Joe does.
Total bullshit.

(19,661 posts)Is that Trump's buffoonish behavior is meant to attract publicity, ala PT Barnum.
And the media plays into it for the same reason.
Calm, sane governance isn't clickbait.

(3,505 posts)Literally, every time that buffoon opens his pie hole, he weakens the nation.
The key is how well Biden and the Dems mock the stupidity of the MAGA crowd.
I do have a problem with the algorithm chasing the M$M is falling into (again). The 4th estate has to be reminded that its goal and purpose it to call out the bulls--t people in power are apt to spew.

(192 posts)For DECADES I have been watching the msm do this. I cut the cord 14 years ago and am more informed than anyone who watches "the news". Media is owned by corporations. Corporations are, mostly, right wing and now maga so I would not trust them to tell me anything that the maga bosses feel is too much information for the masses. We get the information that is maga approved and not one syllable more .
I curate my own content by streaming and I can find news that is not palatable for maga and not reported.

(119 posts)a few months ago, when there was yet again another blockbuster economic report, Norah O'Donnel reported it, then said "but the economy could fall into a recession".
What a crock of b.s.
David Muir of ABC yesterday declard their polls show Deadbeat Donald the Traitor leading by 6 points in battleground states. No he is not.
I watch only because my wife wants to, but she's starting to realize how corporate media lies to us. She is a good person, and no dummy, who wants to believe the good in people and I love her for it.

I would watch it and then tune to Democracy Now or Newshour to decode it.
I would watch Farron, John Iadarola, Thom Hartmann and in the evening watch TV news to see them mention none of it.
I got fed up. Now I only watch Thom, Randi, TYT, Farron, Malloy, BTCohen, my life is so much better!

(597 posts)What's funny is how many people on here complain about the media focusing so much on Trump and yet most posts here are....about Trump and not Biden. Just a quick search of GD shows 11 Trump posts and 8 Biden posts.
This is a real issue Biden faces. He's not out there like Trump. Trump is holding rallies every day and sometimes multiple ones. He's doing interviews. He's having townhalls. Biden? I couldn't tell you what Biden did yesterday or the day before.
Even on Super Tuesday, Biden's team just released a statement. That's it.
I expect we'll get a lot from him today, though with the State of the Union.
But for the time being, Biden has decided to run a lowkey campaign where he's not out in the public much. We'll see if that changes but if it doesn't, don't be surprised if you see more of Trump than Biden.

(597 posts)Just look at what Obama was doing around this time in 2012:
https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/briefing-room/speeches-and-remarks?term_node_tid_depth=31&page=268
From February 23rd to March 7th, Obama held 8 campaign rallies. That was on top of the events he held as president.
You can view Biden's schedule here:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/
Not only in that span has Biden not hosted one campaign event, he's done only two public-facing events this week: a speech on March 5th to the Members of the Competition Council and he answered a handful of questions before boarding Air Force One that same day.
Now he has the SOTU tonight but that's why you don't see him on TV. He's not out speaking the press or holding rallies.
That's got to change. And it sounds like you agree.

(3,848 posts)McCain, Obama's first opponent, had an actual job. Romney may have left the governorship, but he was involved in policy, had a company which was an actual company, etc. Trump's only concern is himself, which is why he can put himself out there 24/7. Joe cannot out-Trump Trump because unlike Trump he has a country to run.
And I think maybe Joe has campaign staff who are well-trained, and probably know a few things, and are probably dealing with the situation as we speak.
All Mixed Up
(597 posts)The OP is mad that Trump is on TV. I only pointed out why and that why is because Trump spends pretty much every waking moment campaigning, doing podcasts, calling into shows and holding townhalls.
Biden doesn't have to compete with Trump. That wasn't the point. The point is that Biden isn't doing anything. I literally said in my post that his campaign has decided at this time to run a low-key campaign.
He's done two public-facing events this week so far. One was a short speech at the White House and the other a brief answering of questions before boarding Air Force One. Both those events were on March 5th.
That's why you're not seeing him on TV. It's not some grand conspiracy. Biden just hasn't made himself available to the press this week.
But of course, the issue here that I was replying to originally was the excuse that Biden has a job to do. I showed that in 2012, Obama at this point was holding multiple campaign events. So, he clearly was balancing his duties as president with the needs of his reelection campaign.
Remember, it was YOU who said he had a job to do and that's why he's not holding campaign rallies. I showed that Obama could do both, on top of all the public events he held at the White House.
But now you're saying it's the campaign's decision, right? Well that's fine. If they've decided, as I said earlier, to run a low-key campaign where he rarely holds any public events, especially campaign events, then we can't get upset the press isn't convering him because there's nothing to cover.
They'll cover the State of the Union today and tomorrow. What they cover next week will largely depend on whether Biden holds events.
So like I said in my very first post to the OP: don't blame CBS. Blame Biden if you must complain about the coverage. And if you're fine with his strategy of not hosting many public campaign events, that's fine too. Just don't get upset when he's not making the news because there is literally nothing to report on at the time.

(778 posts)The way legacy media has covered the last 3 years you'd think Trump was President the whole time.
And this is a big reason most people don't watch the news. The 81 million people who voted against this grotesque sociopath don't want to see his face or hear his voice.
At this point the media needs Trump a lot more than he needs them. Insurrection, criminality and fascism is more exciting to them than President Biden's competence and compassion.

(22 posts)Last night I watched CBS too. They stated Trump won and how how many votes he got and showed his picture. Then they stated Biden won and how many votes he got. No picture. They interviewed a poller who said Democrats are very worried because Biden is old. Why didnt the poller ask about Trumps many gaffes? Guess that wasnt important. Then they interviewed a bunch of Republicans at a bar. No interviews with any Union Democrats. There is a lot of Democrats who hate Trump. Any time I see him, I change channels.

Reading news allows one to pause and excercise one's critical thinking skills. Television news, opinion, and advertising is almost entirely a gish gallop of bullshit.
