(12,856 posts)Let's just say this... George W. Bush and Donald Trump have brought out the worst in many progressives...
Mostly Shrub and Dump's fault.
I try NOT to hate... hate is a distraction from all the wonderful things to do in life.

(3,452 posts)I do despise and loathe Trump, but my feelings towards MAGA people is more bafflement and pity. (Some anger too.)
I am afraid, however, that they might not find their way back to sanity.
Loathe, is just another word for hate

You are a good soul get some rest, return refreshed.
We, with open hearts, need to be the " loudest voice"
Not the rest

(28,373 posts)I love lots of Republicans. They are family members and dear co-workers. I don't lump all of anyone into one basket. I can't. I have to believe that patience and kindness make things better, or I couldn't be happy.
I'm sorry it seems dark right now. If you are able, walking outside someplace with the sun on your face, someplace where there are trees and birds can do more for your inner peace than any pill or drink can do. Hang in there.

(113,271 posts)of the far right. This is a political site that includes a wide range of forums that include no political barbs, and host discussions more demonstrative of shared love for people, nature, animals, books, music, and other aspects of life, including care and concern for each others health and welfare, and those of their families.
If the political becomes too intense the other forums are certainly welcome relief.
I assumed most members were aware that politics is the main thrust here. None of us are plotting to murder our fellow citizens, or deny them rights, or overthrow the government as they do on right wing sites. THAT is real hate.
Opposing anything, oppose is a hate word. .it's a word , DT and Hitler used.
I choose the word , love

(113,271 posts)to suppress the power of their vote?
You dont oppose the targeting of womens freedom to make their own health choices?
You dont oppose the targeting of labor by industries using political power to exploit wage earners.
You dont oppose the targeting of this nations lands and waterways by those using political power to exploit them for industrial profit?
You dont oppose the targeting of safety nets we fought to install in order to protect the most vulnerable of our neighbors and families?
If one doesnt oppose those wrongs being committed and has no interest in working towards their end, then I guess I dont understand why anyone would join a politically active site.

'Happiness is a warm gun'
(the gun is warmest after you fire it at a Democrat or a "libtard", I presume)

(22,924 posts)It is a real life manifestation of love, love for those being forced to suffer, love determined to make that suffering stop.
I just finished a biography of Frederick Douglass, a man who famously grew up as a slave. He hated slavery, and he was right to hate it. He fought slavery, and he was right to fight it. But he wasn't consumed by hate. There were so many who he loved, and many of them in fact were white, including his second wife..
Your words of warning, never to be consumed by hate, are perennially timely. It is a reminder we must constantly heed. But opposing hate is not hate.

(19,575 posts)Whenever I read you at moments like this I'm reminded of my own dad when he was struggling. I dearly miss him.
I don't have anything profound to add beyond I hear you. Life is often hard and too painful, but that doesn't mean others don't care and aren't listening. Nor, that we're all just full of hate. Anger and frustration often appear as hate, but there's still a distinction between them.
Anyway, when you say these things I do hear you.
Peace to you. ❤️

(1,663 posts)MAGA America speaks of violence.
They condone hate, bigotry, repression and exclusion.
They demean, demoralize, and discriminate.
But they don't speak very much of love.
I think they depend on US to do that.
They also threaten war.
But in a very REAL sense we are already AT war.
We are engaged in a war for the soul of this nation.
In a war for diversity and inclusion.
In a war for compassion, honesty, and integrity.
We are in a war for the survival of our DEMOCRACY.
Against adversaries who seem prepared to stoop to any low.
So how 'bout we win this war?
How 'bout we rise to the occasion
in great numbers,
actively and proactively speaking out against this evil?
How 'bout we save our democracy,
and in so doing, the NOTION of democracy
for the entire world?
Then afterward we can speak of love.

Pardon me for not liking the people who want to see me dead,
only because I am a Democrat
I freely admit, Jesus was a better man than me
"love your enemies!"
I still aspire to that ideal, separate from any religious beliefs,
but for the moment I am failing it
If this site makes you feel so bad, perhaps you should stop viewing it for a while----
perhaps you can find more "love" on RedState or TheDonald.win ????

(32,928 posts)Your life probably won't be affected much if trump "wins."
I'll admit, yes I do hate trump. I've never felt that way about anyone else. For the past however many years we've been subjected to his abuse, and I'm sick of it. Also, when someone tries to overthrow the US government, they must be held accountable.
