The last play of a desperate man. In a chess game, one move from checkmate.
The last words in an ALL-CAPITAL post by the Defendant, Donald Trump.
He was explaining why it was necessary for a president, any president, to have absolute immunity from ever being prosecuted for any crimes that might happen if he "crosses the line".
Perhaps it was a confession from someone who knows he has "crossed the line" and is looking for some sort of mercy from the Courts?
Perhaps he has inside information and knows that the Court is going to make a ruling, perhaps as early as today? With his omnipotent power, he was able to get the Republicans in the US Senate and the US House to file an amicus brief in support of his theory of "absolute immunity".
Surely, the Supreme Court would never ignore such important and powerful witnesses?
Just days after his lawyers argued in front of the Appeals Court that he could order Seal Team 6 to assassinate his political rivals and the immunity would still apply, he said it would apply to all presidents, not just him.
Because Republicans would never believe that a Democratic President would commit the crimes that he committed? That Joe Biden, with full immunity, would never order Seal Team 6 to assassinate Donald Trump tomorrow and would have full immunity from prosecution?
How blind are Republicans in the House and Senate? If the people only knew the truth about them, would they still send them back to Washington to represent them in the US Congress?
"God Bless The Supreme Court"? Those are the words of someone that wants the Supreme Court to do what he wants, or someone who believes they will do what he wants.

(22,987 posts)You left out a step, after the Appeals Court denies his appeal, Trump will appeal to the entire court, en banc, more delay.
Time matters.

(15,897 posts)He has multiple cases in front of them.
The absolute immunity appeal, which he knows he will lose but which he hopes they will just park in a corner until after the election effectively stalling the j6 case case. It will eventually get to them after the appellate court issues its ruling, and the en banc appeal is denied.
The 14th amendment case, which could rule him ineligible to serve and allow states to remove him from the ballot.
A case involving whether j6 defendants can be charged with obstructing an official proceeding of congress. If that is tossed, it could upend hundreds of convictions and toss 2 of the 4 charges stinky is charged with in the j6 case.
He has a lot at stake with scotus.

(15,897 posts)Because they will have ceded all power to him permanently if he regains power. He will have zero use for a court that will have more power than he does. None, zero, zilxch.
With him, it doesn't matter what you did for him, it's what are you gonna do. What are you doing. If it isn't what he wants, you are dog meat.
If they like their role as the "Supreme" court, they need to DQ him and slam his ass down. The end.

(22,987 posts)From the very beginning of trump's investigation, when Jack Smith took over, it has never been about evidence in convicting Trump, it has always been about delaying any and all trials.
Debating how the SC is going to rule is a waste of time, the SC is not going to give presidents the divine right of a king, that point is moot.
