Pro-Palestinian campaigners are labelling pots of Israeli hummus stocked in British supermarkets as profiting from genocide.
The anti-Israel BDS movement which stands for boycott, divestment and sanctions calls for activists not to buy Israeli products in order to put economic pressure on companies operating in the country.
It claims on its website that the hummus and dips brand Sabra previously supported the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) with donations.
The campaigns website states: Sabra hummus is a joint venture between PepsiCo and the Strauss Group, an Israeli food company that provides financial support to the Israeli army.
However, The Telegraph understands that BDSs website refers to a Sabra brand sold in the US.

(96,043 posts)See, there's this guy brings a food truck around at lunchtime to the parking lot of a plant that makes this particular widget, the crew eats and gets back to work at it, makes a lot of these widgets. Now some of the widgets they make become part of a machine another plant uses to make machines that make a little cylinder that's used, with a few more steps and additions, in the truck that brings bombs to an air force plane, which then goes out and drops them on a target. So, clearly, that guy with the food truck is responsible for what that bomb does when it detonates, and revolutionary justice is rightly served when someone comes up and shoots that filthy enabler of war criminals dead right there in the parking lot at lunch.

(63,416 posts)Up to now, I've been fairly critical of Israel. Most of the Jewish Americans I know are, too.
But I can honestly say I've never seen this level of pure, unbridled hatred of Jewish people being unleashed. It's horrifying.
It makes me much more supportive of Israel. I begin to understand why having their own country seems necessary.

(302,922 posts)Yesterday morning, I took my daughter to our local Starbucks in BK for a quick breakfast. It was shut down bc it was graffiti-ed. Red Paint, multiple anti-zionist fliers....
I was really really angry about it. They're destroying property in a neighborhood that has nothing to do with anything? Why? And while I am sympathetic to the Gazans and what they are going through, and I am critical of the Israeli government, this particular graffiti attack feels like an attack against the local jewish population who has nothing to do with any of that. And it's making me crazy.

(13,688 posts)had this whole argument about 5 years ago. They were ahead of the times. (I am not a member there so don't know the details, but there were lots of news stories about the fights in the coop about this topic. I think they ultimately kept the Israeli hummus.)
Also, this is dumb.
