The Great Voucher School Scam

Here is the scam:

School vouchers are all the Republican rage right now, particularly in my home state of TN. This is why that's bad.

Trae Crowder gets into the ways that they are bad and that their only real purpose is to siphon money away from public sector schools, especially those in poor or minority communites and channel it to the wealthy people who are already sending their kids to school. Meanwhile, it does nothing to help the poor or the minority students.

Some states also give tax money for home schooling with no strings attached and no monitoring of whether kids are actually being educated. The rise in home schooling among white evangelicals is notable, and some Republican legislatures (such as Florida) are trying to shift more tax money their way. Texas is still more focused on funding private Christian schools.
