The only thing I can think of, and which is in my power, is to advertise the stakes of the 2024 Presidential Election.
What are the best ways to do this?
I was thinking that if we could get 2024 called The Year of Democracy and encourage a series of Marches for Democracy, that might be useful.
What are your ideas?

(15,156 posts)The threat of a fascist takeover of the government is very real. Pretending otherwise is not helpful. That doesn't mean it is inevitable. Certainly voting for and promoting the democratic alternative to fascism needs to be done. But we also need to think about how to proceed if we fail in 2024. Now. Not a year from now. And as I said, we can learn from how others survived and defeated these regimes.

I also don't like people, especially strangers, approaching me in public to harangue me about even political views I agree with, so I extend the same courtesy to others. If a stranger brings up such things to me, I cut them short and get as far away from them as possible. Because if I find it intolerably rude., and borderline menacing.
I don't think I'm alone in this.
If you must push your views in public, at least have the courtesy to set up a table or booth making it clear what you're on about, so nobody has to talk to you if they don't want.
Otherwise, please leave strangers alone in public. Is that really too bloody much to ask?

(9,672 posts)We Democrats are the party committed to keeping the United States of America as a healthy, functional representative republic governed by representatives responsible to the wishes of the majority of its citizens. Club Pachyderm has cast aside those values to become an authoritarian cult dedicated to one-man rule with no respect for the wishes or desires of its citizens.
We should hammer home the idea that our party is the guardian of democracy, a role the other party has capitulated to its devotion to Orange Julius.

That's how we get the big numbers behind us. Banish those antiquated terms so the vast majority can identify with us and know which side their bread is buttered. Employees, working stiffs, clock punchers. Let's get all Johnny Paycheck up in here.

(981 posts)The Republican primaries haven't even started yet.
Republicans and anyone eligible to vote in a Republican primary can pick another candidate.
If Trump wins the nomination then it's on us Democrats and
Never-Trumper/Pro-Democracy Americans to do everything possible to help GOTV and win next November.
We'll have to remind people what happened in Trumps first term and what he has planned for a second. And to show how far Trump has deteriorated mentally in the last 3 years and how extreme his speeches have become.
Of course the 2 most important actions are turn out and vote overwhelmingly for President Biden in the primary and general election.
A year is a lifetime in politics. Hopefully Americans will wake up and realize whatever their problems are with government... re-electing Trump ISN'T the answer.
