The perennial question

The Faye Dunaway character in “Network” explained Howard Beale’s popularity: “The American people are turning sullen. They’ve been clobbered on all sides by Vietnam, Watergate, the inflation, the depression; they’ve turned off, shot up, and they’ve fucked themselves limp, and nothing helps. The American people want somebody to articulate their rage for them.”

Is Trump just Howard Beale? It’s as good an explanation as anything, I guess. But remember, Howard Beale was certifiably nuts.

The man is a disgraceful pig. His antics on the witness stand today were beyond outrageous. Lisa Rubin on NBC describes his testimony as “someone who was not in control of his id today.” He’s not in control of his id any day. And yet, he is leading in the battleground states right now because Joe Biden is old and foolish people have bought into his hype that he personally made the economy perfect when he was in office. (It wasn’t, they just have short memories.) It’s infuriating.

5. My theory is they like Trump because he allows them to unleash their inner asshole.

They are tired of holding it in. They want to be as racist, sexist, classless, uneducated, gun toting cowboys possible, and just the biggest assholes, shitheads, and fuckheads this side of the Atlantic. Trump allows them to let it all hang out in the open. Rules? Society? Who needs that shit? They're uneducated and unsophisticated and proud of it.

They're caught up in a worldview where privilege reigns, where they're told they deserve more than their fair share because their skin color or maleness or Christianity of cis-hetness.

And Donnie not only constantly pushes that worldview, but he is the ultimate exemplar of it. *everything* he has is due to privilege. Everything he does is based on privilege. Every hire, every favor, every insult, etc. all based on privilege.

His utter incompetence, his evilness, his shabby clothes, his bizarre hair, everything about him eliminates any other explanation for whatever success and fame he has. He's bad at everything other than privilege. Pushing it, leveraging it, benefitting from it. That's all he is.

He is, to the bigot, living proof that anyone white can win, anyone male can win, etc., even if they suck at their job or whatever. So he represents hope for people who can't find success in a fair system.

So, we all tend to look for things we aspire to in leaders. I am 61 years old, "my guy" has won Presidential Elections exactly once.

Obama, he is smarter than me, he exceeds my morals, he is a better communicator than me, he is smarter than me, he damn sure is thinner than me, currently better looking than me, but I will fight that I was better than him from about 1978 to 1984. (So I still hold out hope in that area)

So the majority of us look for the best, we understand our shortcomings, we look to the future. The majority of them are self centered fucking ASSHOLES. They could care JACK FUCKING SHIT what happens outside their own immediate world. To put it another way, they are pieces of shit, they are fucking assholes. They need to be treated as such.

Let us say the number that will vote for him is 20 percent!
That equals about 60 million people. (If the U.S.A. has about 300 million people now)

So....what do we do?.................We get out and vote so that we greatly outnumber those that suck.

There are a lot of people that watch those crazy shows and love excitement, crazy, drama and are addicted to it. I see people posting drama all the time on social media.

It's my belief some of them follow him because he's a bad boy rebel.
