I miss the DU3 homepage. When I was short of

time it was an excellent snapshot of any news I had not kept up with. Otherwise I’m finding my way around ok. Thank you admins for all the time you are putting in and also for your patience as we go through this process.

1. You can go to account settings and change it to "skinner mode" and it goes back to looking like DU3.

I personally don’t have a problem with the changes but I never really used the home page.

the home page don't care about the changes.

Otoh, those who did spend much time there are pretty unhappy. Especially those who might have just minutes for DU, if they're busy, who'd felt they could keep up with breaking news and DU's response via the DU3 home page.

I think the old home page made a much better impression on most newcomers, too. And that's important.

2. It's a much different experience depending on how wide one sets the window

or how much zoomed in or out one is. For example, at my usual window width, Latest Breaking News was relegated to the bottom of the page, and it was just the subject lines -- there was not the usual 50 or so word beginning of each post.

But when I widened the window, or zoomed out (with Control Minus), or went full screen ( F11 ), there was this magnificent 4-column version, and my beloved Latest Breaking News was near the top of the 4th column (after the 5 Greatest Discussions lines). And with the 50 or so word beginning of each post.

This from a Windows 10 computer perspective.

Control Zero restores the default 100% zoom. Control Plus zooms in.

Unfortunately the DU3 version had 25 LBN stories on the home page. DU4: ten. While the subject lines of all LBN posts are a click away on the left menu, they don't have the 50 or so word blurbs, so that's been lost.

As for Skinner mode, some talk about it like the 2nd Coming of Christ, but I'm seeing a somewhat simplified and less usable version of DU4. But if it works for you, great.
