and I stand by what I said there - I applaud the hard work that they put into DU4 to make it more friendly for those using smartphones to access DU. There are a lot of people who have only smartphones to get online - this is more common with younger and lower-income people - and I can tell from the comments posted so far that DU4 works much better for some (not all) people using smartphones here than DU3 ever did.

But after more time using DU4, which I had used at least some time every day during the beta test - and after reading all the comments here that I could find and seeing how many people find DU4 less convenient and usable for the same reasons that I do - I have to admit that I preferred DU3. I wish DU4 could be an option for those who prefer it, since many do, with DU3 the default. But I was just informed it's impossible to operate both versions at the same time indefinitely. So that idea was a nonstarter and EarlG was right to lock that thread.

We'll just have to see how this works out, if DU4 can be tweaked to help more people, and if people finding it more difficult to use now can adapt. And it'll be interesting to see if the new design attracts more users, younger users. I'm a boomer, but it would be great to see more younger Dems here, and it's essential that DU be easily usable by those with only phones to get online.

At the moment, though, I really miss DU3. Even though I know how much work the admins put into this, and they will ALWAYS deserve kudos for wanting smartphone users to find DU4 a friendlier experience.

Found that out this morning. Not crazy about it on the laptop at home but I guess I’ll adapt eventually.

4. I only use my phone, I don't use a computer either and I like DU4 just fine

I’m old and I generally don’t like things to change, but this will be easy to get used to, like someone said, it’s all about the people on here

9. I'm glad it's an improvement for some people, anyway.

I am used to DU4. I've always been a quick learner, and I spent some time on DU4 every day of the beta testing. I just prefer DU3.

5. As I suspected on the phone issue...

unfortunately, I don't do this on my phone. It's a little less convenient and pleasant on my desktop. Call it my Luddite Tax.

8. I'm just grateful for Night mode.

As a night owl, the white backgrounds were a lot. This looks much better than Smart Invert, although I did have to clear my cache to get it to work. This will help me sleep and maybe be less cranky. Maybe.
