parading around in Fort Worth, churches and synagogues burns and shot up around the country, high profile Republican politicians palling around with white nationalists, general antisemitism on the rise here and in Europe...
The last time people put up with this it led to World War II. Are we going to squash them before they come to power THIS time, or just suffer it all again? I say, get them before they get us. Am I advocating open violence against those proud to be Nazis? No. Not in this forum, but in my heart? You bet! My heart says just take them out on sight.

(6,871 posts)We had the Nazis who were allowed in tell us to go on a Red Scare. totally forgetting Nazis killed over 200,000 of our troops. Seven decades where this scare was used to attack all on the Left. Even the FBI got weak checking up on the Far Right.

(16,003 posts)I would like to read up on this, since Fort Worth means something to me.
Think. Again.
(9,098 posts)...at stopping them (and their ideology) in it's tracks, now, without hesitation.
I don't agree with initiating violence in the streets to do that. There are other, more permanent ways to end this.
Germany outlawed anything to do with nazism after the war. We can respond to Americans practicing the same garbage just as forcefully and more if needed, and with zero tolerance.
Edit to add: After reading this: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100218366986 it's clear that we must avoid narrowing our efforts to only nazis.
We need hard, strict, pre-emptive 'Hate Crime' laws and punishments across the board, now.
If our legislators, justice department, and law enforcement agencies don't do that, then we can talk about the neccesary next steps.

(479 posts)"If our legislators, justice department, and law enforcement agencies don't do that, ..." is kind of my point. The legislators can't or won't, and some of them ARE THEM. The DOJ is hampered by the Supremes. Law enforcement, really? In the South and Midwest? The cops that AREN'T de facto klansmen have shown that they won't or can't police their own ranks time and time again. I would prefer a constitutional and legal solution, but my faith in that diminishes daily. The 1930's and 40's Europe showed us what happens if we wait too long. Hitler was ELECTED!
Think. Again.
(9,098 posts)...about the current state of our "leadership" (for lack of a better word), but I think it's imperative that we do all that we can to do this the democratic, peacefull way before we become an angry vigilante mob.
So far, public outrage has been minimal at best. I don't believe there more of them than us, but I do believe we have been allowing this to grow by not loudly and forcely demanding harsher laws and punishments for anything that even hints at civilian fascism.
And again I say, absolutely, if, when forced to make a decision on whether they will act firmly against this crap or not, our 'leaders' still choose to allow it, then I'm with you and all bets are off.
