Trump Shows Love To 'Hannibal Lecter' In Killer Blunder At Iowa Rally

I’m not a big fan of HuffPost, due to the clickbait, but this is too good not to post.

Trump Shows Love To 'Hannibal Lecter' In Killer Blunder At Iowa Rally

Trump claimed "The Silence of the Lambs" killer threw his support behind him in an awkward flub on Saturday.

Former President Donald Trump ate up alleged support from “Hannibal Lecter” in a terrifying slip-up at an Iowa rally.

The former president criticized open border policies on Saturday and claimed people were coming to America from “insane asylums” before bringing up “The Silence of the Lambs.”

“Hannibal Lecter, how great an actor was he?” said Trump in a mix-up between the fictional character’s name and Anthony Hopkins, the actor who played the cannibal in the 1991 film.

“You know why I like him? Because he said on television on one of the – ‘I love Donald Trump.’ So I love him. I love him. I love him. He said that a long time ago and once he said that, he was in my camp, I was in his camp. I don’t care if he was the worst actor, I’d say he was great to me.”

I don’t argue with anyone so lost to think that. I agree with them—DJT is sent by God to deceive cheaters of the Christian faith.

I don’t hear any of my Jewish friends claiming DJT to be god.

Trump is not saying that he likes the famous fictional character Hopkins once portrayed in a movie or that he endorses Hannibal Lecter's worldview, just that an actor once (allegedly) said something nice about him. Trump is odious enough without stretching the truth like this.

Quote from article:

We talk politics. He doesn’t care about Trump; he doesn’t vote.

I've searched online, and I can't find anything from Hopkins saying anything like "I love Donald Trump."

So not only has Trump mixed up Hannibal Lector and the actor who played him, he's almost certainly misremembered the wrong actor anyway!

More gaga than MAGA. Hey, that has a nice ring to it.

James Austin Johnson is much thinner than Trump, but I love how he captures Trump's very odd stream of consciousness riffs. That is much better than any of the previous SNL Trumps, IMO.

I'm picturing Hannibal Lecter ----> Gordon Gecko ----> Geico Gecko.

28. Trump off script
Sun Oct 8, 2023, 09:07 AM

And, sometimes even on script, sounds like he's looking for words he can't remember. That's why he uses simplistic terms like an 8th grader.

He uses tortured syntax, run-on sentences, mid-thought changes of subject, and seems to have trouble formulating complete sentences, let alone coherent paragraphs. He gets people's names wrong, fumbles with multi syllable words and misnames objects or ideas, and he doesn't notice these mistakes.

Seems to me he's declining into Alzheimers. My friends mother was like this in her 60s. And that sweet woman was a highschool principal in her earlier years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in her 70s. But you could see it coming on in her 60s with problems finding a lot of words and symptoms much like Trump.

I think Trump's father also had Alzheimers, so it runs in his family. At times, Trump reminds me of a more belligerent Ronnie Reagan....before Nancy cancelled his press conferences.
