Next speaker of the house will be......

The next speaker wil be a congressperson who can convince all the republicans in the house that they will be happy.

It took McCarthy 15 votes before he could do that. He failed after nine months, so he's out.

I don't think there is anyone who can make all republicans happy

Not in a few weeks or months even. So we will have chaos and more do nothing congress for awhile, which considering the majority and the damage they could do if united, do nothing is good.

The other way is for a few republicans becoming Democrats and voting for Jefferies who can make all the Democrats happy

One thing to think of is that now that trump is almost finished his hold over the magas in congress fades.

But, I question the part that says that Trump is almost finished, and that his hold over MAGA is done. The Repubs have shown that they are spineless, and that they are afraid of Donald "Two Scoops" Trump. There's nothing about this situation that says Donald is done.

The way you tell that Donald is done is to see the cell door clang shut on him. Then, you'll know.

Could be excess of hope from me, but in congress he is responsible for McCarthy going out and the Dems with just a slight disadvantage. His main boogers in congress are not well liked.

Now all it needs is for Trump to drop out of the running. Plus, some of them would have to develop some courage.

But Mccarthy is gone and that because he didn't get any Dem votes.

Can you name one repub who can get all repub votes? I can't see any. So, if one can get Dems to vote for him and say 10 repubs, he's in. Dems control this now because the magats made a mess.

Think. Again.

We'll be lucky if we just get through the next year and a half with them just putting on their show and staying away from the work part of their jobs.

They were the ones who participated in the j6 hearings, or who voted to impeach. They are no longer in the house.

Literally ever gop house member who so much as raised a question of impropriety against the orange gangster was driven out, and the rest were silenced and put in line.

There really aren't any even any partially moderate gop members left.

Sure, some like buck will say there is no evidence to impeach, being in a very swing district, but a quick look at his past rhetoric tells the story of very right wing loon. He's trying to play the crowd wherever he is.

The remaining gop members are all nuts at this point.

That's why I say Jefferies may be the best hope.

There could be one repub that Jefferies could work with? At least to pass a budget? It is the only hope to get anything done.

Gaetz is actually trying to burn the house down legislative to cover his tracks and prepare for his run for governor.

He doesn't want there to be a speaker, or any business conducted, or a functioning govt.

That plays into his run for gov.

It also keeps the house from expelling him for being a pedo sex trafficker.

But he has accomplices. And unless 5 gop members cross the aisle and vote for Jeffries, he won't be speaker. You will see musk as speaker before jeffries.

And with scalese suffering from cancer, Santos about to take a plea deal, McCarthy about not to give a fuck and retire, and gaetz likely to toss a molotov cocktail as he resigns to run for FL governor, that could be down to 1.

Tough to get agreement when you can't lose even one vote.

So bad. Not sad. Oh well, time for popcorn.

Best hope for who? The GOP? I don't think so.

IMO Jeffries would not receive a single GOP vote in the extremely unlikely event he was put up for the speakership. They'll eventually find a way to elect someone without any Dem votes, a la Kevin 15, and Stefanik is as "good" a choice as any of them. IMO, they'd rather go speakerless for the duration of this congress than give Hakeem the speaker position. It's not going to happen.

He's smart, he's funny, he's good looking, and his speaking voice is ear candy. He can hold his own. I haven't heard how he feels about it. I think he can be as good as Pelosi. I read that Pelosi may come back, but this will be done by then.

But, if Donald became Speaker, he'd use the time to campaign. He'd have diarrhea of the mouth continuously, and probably tell the Congress what HE wants. He might cause so much alienation that Repubs would change parties. I think we would have to see what would happen.

tRump is like a cancer. You just have to do something about it. I am not sure if that Rule is right or not, that he can't become Speaker. Guess we'll find out about that, too.

I think our Government is fracturing right in front of our faces. I dislike Gaetz so much. Interesting how Donald is praising Marjorie Traitor Greene instead of Gaetz. But, she sucked up in a way that Gaetz can't.
